Although pressure-overload right ventricular hypertrophy is a long-term risk in some congenital heart diseases such as tetralogy of Fallot, how it develops unclear. The aim this study was to investigate the mechanism development failure.Pulmonary artery banding 10-day-old rabbits induced they grew. Comparisons were made with age-matched sham controls (n = 24 per group). In weekly serial echocardiography, contraction and diastolic function decreased from 3 weeks after surgery (P < 0.01),...

Abstract OBJECTIVES We conducted this case series to evaluate the feasibility and mid-term outcomes of orthotopic aortic arch reconstruction using xenopericardial grafts treat native arch/arch graft infection. METHODS Between 2010 2023, adopting a multidisciplinary approach, we treated consecutive patients with infection by branched roll replacement tissue filling. The end points study were reinfection graft-related complications such as pseudoaneurysm formation, thromboembolism, stenosis,...

Abstract Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a heart muscle disorder characterized by enlargement, failure (HF), and arrhythmias which lead to sudden death especially in young adults. Current recommendations for management of patients with ARVC are antiarrhythmic medications, catheter ablation, implantable cardioverter defibrillator therapy prevent cardiac death. However, despite these treatments, few suffer from recurrent or HF unresponsive conventional management....

Atypical aortic coarctation (AAC) has been reported to occur anywhere along the aorta, except for ascending aorta. The associated symptoms include hypotension in lower half of body, secondary hypertension upper and heart failure. Here we present an 80-year-old Asian woman complaining progressive exertional dyspnea. She was diagnosed with acute decompensated failure kidney injury due severely calcified stenosis thoracoabdominal so called AAC. received hemodiafiltration, pulmonary congestion...

We previously demonstrated that infrared coagulator IRK-151 (Lumatec, Deisenhofen, Germany) is capable of creating a transmural lesion while preserving the epicardium and endocardium beating right atrium ventricle in canine model (1). Since original contains 3-sec timer its plastic body not strong enough to tolerate long coagulation times, we modified it by replacing with reinforced heat-resistant substituting digital programmable so would be perform myocardial ablation, conduction block on...

Abstract Background Creating a box lesion in the posterior wall of left atrium from epicardial side beating heart remains challenge. Although transmural can be created by applying radiofrequency (RF) energy at clampable sites, it is still difficult to create unclampable sites because inner blood flow free weakens thermal effect on outside. Our aim was apply newly developed infrared coagulator linear lesions thoracoscopically treat atrial fibrillation (AF). Case presentation A 71-year-old...

A three-month-old boy with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (mitral atresia, aortic atresia) and moderate tricuspid regurgitation developed ascending aorta obstruction two months after a Norwood stage I procedure. An emergent mammary artery bypass grafting to the extracorporeal membrane oxygenator support resulted in successful salvage. The patient subsequently underwent bidirectional Glenn procedure valve repair at age of five months. Follow-up an outpatient clinic reveals no...
