The aim of this study was to investigate the effects 3-nitrooxypropanol (NOP) on gas production, rumen fermentation, and animal performances depending type using a meta-analysis approach. A database consisted data from 14 studies, 18 experiments 55 treatments. supplementation NOP linearly decreased methane (CH4) emissions [g/kg dry matter intake (DMI)] regardless length experimental period (beef, p < 0.0001, R2 = 0.797; dairy, 0.0003, 0.916; long term, 0.910). total volatile fatty acids...
The purpose of this study was to investigate the meat metabolite profiles related differences in beef quality attributes (i.e., high-marbled and low-marbled groups) using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. different marbling scores showed significant water content fat content. High-marbled had mainly higher taste compounds than meat. Metabolite analysis between two groups based on partial least square discriminant (PLS-DA). Metabolites identified by PLS-DA, such as...
This study demonstrated the potential effects of rumen microbiota on deposition intramuscular fat, known as marbling. Previous studies fatty acid metabolism in beef cattle have mostly focused biohydrogenating bacteria, whereas those overall microbiota—to understand their roles marbling—have not been systematically performed. The 14 Korean (Hanwoo), which showed similar carcass characteristics and blood metabolites but different marbling scores, were analyzed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing....
Temperature increases due to climate change induce heat stress in livestock, resulting economic losses for farmers. This study investigated the physiological responses of Hanwoo cattle stress, and effects on vaginal microbiome. Four cows (mean weight: 380.3 ± 37.5 kg, parity: 2.5 1.0) were allocated two groups: (temperature-humidity index (THI) 86: 33 °C, 70% humidity) no (THI 67: 20 60% humidity). The exposed these conditions 15 days, was repeated twice with same cohort animals, ensuring...
Heat stress negatively affects cattle productivity by reducing feed intake. In the present study, we assessed if rumen microbiome composition of Hanwoo steers was altered exposure to heat stress. Rumen samples were collected from four that individually housed in climate-controlled chambers with 60% humidity and environmental temperatures of: 1) 15°C (0-day group), 2) 35°C for 3 days (3-day 3) 6 (6-day group). The total community DNA extracted, 997,843 bacterial 1,508,770 archaeal sequences...
Abstract In Japan, Japanese Black cattle, known for their exceptional meat quality owing to abundant intramuscular fat, undergo a unique three-stage feeding system with varying concentrate ratios. There is limited research on physiological and rumen microbial changes in cattle during these stages. Therefore, this study aimed examine steers three stages: early (T1, 12–14 months), middle (T2, 15–22 late (T3, 23–30 months). The bacteria of 21 per phase was analyzed using 16S rRNA gene...
Heat stress (HS) negatively impacts pig production and swine health. Therefore, to understand the genetic metabolic responses of pigs HS, we used RNA-Seq high resolution magic angle spinning (HR-MAS) NMR analyses compare transcriptomes metabolomes Duroc (n = 6, 3 barrows gilts) exposed heat (33 °C 60% RH) with a control group (25 RH). HS resulted in differential expression 552 (236 up, 316 down) 879 (540 339 genes significant enrichment 30 31 plasma metabolites female male pigs,...
Limited information is available regarding the use of microwave-dried Hermetia illucens larvae meal (HILM) as a dietary protein source for broiler diets. Therefore, we investigated effects HILM on carcass traits, meat quality, fatty acid (FA) profiles abdominal fat and meat, heavy metal residues in broilers. A total 126 male broilers were randomly assigned to three treatment groups (6 replicates 7 birds/pen): control diet two experimental diets which soybean was replaced with 25 or 50% HILM....
This study evaluates how different feeding systems impact ruminal fermentation, methane production, and microbiota of Hanwoo steers native to Korea. In a replicated 2 × crossover design over 29 days per period, eight (507.1 ± 67.4 kg) were fed twice daily using separate (SF) system comprising concentrate mix forage or total mixed rations (TMR) in 15:85 ratio. The TMR-feeding group exhibited considerable neutral detergent fiber digestibility increase than the SF group. However, fermentation...
Major amino acids in pig diets are Lys, Met, Thr, and Trp, but little is known about the requirements for other essential acids, especially on odorous compounds microbial characteristics feces of growing-finishing pigs. To this end, different levels acid composition added to investigate effects concentration.A total eight (n = 8) barrows (Landrace × Yorkshire Duroc) with an average bodyweight 89.38 ± 3.3 kg were individually fed formulated by Korean Feeding Standards 2007 (old version) or...
Background: Ensiling spent mushroom substrate (SMS) generally increases its nutrient digestibility and quality. Objective: To determine the feed quality of SMS from Pleurotus ostreatus (SMSP) inoculated with lactic acid bacteria (LAB: Lactobacillus brevis) in Hanwoo steers. Methods: Ruminal disappearance SMSP (ISMSP) were evaluated three rumen-fistulated steers (408 ± 13.0 Kg body weight). Further, healthy (336 69.0 weight) randomly allotted to one dietary treatments (control: 25% straw, 75%...
Objective The main objective of this study was to determine the effect different diets for early-weaned (EW) calves on rumen development, and how affects fat deposition in longissimus dorsi adult Korean Hanwoo beef cattle. Methods Three EW groups were established (each n = 12) which two- week-old fed ten weeks with milk replacer+concentrate (T1), replacer+concentrate+ roughage (T2), or replacer+concentrate+30% starch (T3); a control group (n weaned as normal. At six months, 5 each...
This study aimed to determine the effective dose of intravenous administration L-tryptophan (L-T) on gastrointestinal hormones (GIH) secretions and melatonin using Hanwoo cattle. Three steers (362 ± 23 kg) fitted with indwelling jugular vein catheters were assigned in a 3 × Latin square design. Treatments saline (control), 28.9 mg L-T/kg body weight (BW; low) 57.8 BW (high) L-T for 1 day 7 days adaptation. Samples collected after adaptation period at −60, 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 240,...
Objective: Deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone (ZEN) are mycotoxins that frequently contaminate maize grain cereals, imposing risks to the health of both humans animals leading economic losses. The gut microbiome has been shown help combat effects such toxins, with certain microorganisms reported contribute significantly detoxification process. Methods: We examined cecum contents three different dietary groups pigs (control, as well diets contaminated 8 mg DON/kg feed or 0.8 ZEN/kg feed)....
Black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae meal (HILM) is a promising alternative to soybean (SBM). However, little information available on the effect of microwave-dried HILM as dietary protein source in diets laying hens. We studied inclusion level productive performance, cecal volatile fatty acid profile, egg quality, overall and heavy metal residues A total 144 hens (25-week-old) were randomly assigned three groups (eight replicates six birds/cage): control diet, two experimental which...
Rumen cannulation is a surgical technique used to collect rumen contents from ruminants. However, surgery may potentially impact the composition of microbiota. This study aimed examine longitudinal alterations in microbiota Hanwoo steers after surgery. In this study, eight were used; four underwent (cannulation group), while remaining left intact (control group). samples collected all using stomach tubing method on day before (day 0) and postoperative days 1, 4, 7, 10, 14, 17, 21, 24, 28,...
