We aimed to investigate the first Omicron cases detected in France order assess case characteristics and provide supporting information on possible impact of this variant healthcare system. A standardized questionnaire was used collect from confirmed probable cases. Median age 468 investigated 35 years, 376 were symptomatic (89%); 64% vaccinated with two doses 7% had received three doses. Loss smell taste reported by 8.3% 9% cases, respectively. Seven hospitalized, those unvaccinated...

ABSTRACT A single team has reported isolation of nanobacteria in human and bovine blood products, as well as, more recently, kidney stones. This raised controversy. To confirm the data, we searched for from 10 aseptically removed upper urinary tract (UUT) We used scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) with four stones culture on either 3T6 fibroblast monolayers or liquid RPMI medium. Detection was made a commercially available monoclonal antibody, 16S ribosomal DNA amplification specific...

We report detection of Seoul virus in 3 patients France over a 2-year period. These accounted for the 4 infections among 434 hantavirus (1.7%) reported during this time. More attention should be given to Europe where surveillance has been focused mostly on Puumala and Dobrava-Belgrade hantaviruses.

ABSTRACT Coxiella burnetii , an obligate intracellular bacterium which survives in myeloid cells, causes Q fever humans. We previously demonstrated that virulent C. organisms are poorly internalized by monocytes compared to avirulent variants. hypothesized a differential mobilization of the actin cytoskeleton may account for this distinct phagocytic behavior. Scanning electron microscopy stimulated profound and polymorphic changes morphology THP-1 monocytes, consisting membrane protrusions...

Abstract During June 2017–April 2018, active tuberculosis with Beijing SIT1 isolates was diagnosed in 14 persons living 4 distant cities France. Whole-genome sequencing indicated that these patients belonged to a single transmission chain. sequencing–based laboratory investigations enabled prompt tracing of linked cases improve control.

ABSTRACT Dietzia maris , an environmental actinomycete, has been implicated only once in human disease. We herein report the first D. isolate from a bone biopsy specimen patient hospitalized for total hip prosthesis replacement. Cell wall fatty acid analysis and 16S ribosomal DNA gene sequencing were utilized to achieve its definite identification. This case illustrates usefulness of such methods accurate identification actinomycetes.

Among 275 patients with COVID-19, we found that median blood zinc level was significantly lower in poor clinical outcome (N = 75) as compared to good 200) (840 μg/L versus 970 μg/L; p < 0.0001), suggesting supplementation could be useful for severe COVID-19.

We sought to infer how the interactions between distinct populations shape global population structure of Mtb on regional scale. applied recently described timescaled haplotypic density (THD) technique 638 minisatellite-based genotypes from French patients.
