Abstract Background Acute respiratory infections (ARIs) result in millions of illnesses and hundreds thousands hospitalizations annually the United States. The responsible viruses include influenza, parainfluenza, human metapneumovirus, coronaviruses, syncytial virus (RSV), rhinoviruses. This study estimated population‐based hospitalization burden those (RVs) over 4 years, from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2019, among adults ≥18 years age for Allegheny County (Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania. Abstract Background Influenza causes significant morbidity and mortality stresses hospital resources during periods of increased circulation. We evaluated the effectiveness 2019–2020 influenza vaccine against influenza-associated hospitalization in United States. Methods included adults hospitalized with acute respiratory illness at 14 hospitals tested for viruses by reserve-transcription polymerase chain reaction. Vaccine (VE) was estimated comparing odds current-season vaccination...

We estimated vaccine effectiveness (VE) for prevention of influenza-associated hospitalizations among adults during the 2018-2019 influenza season. Adults admitted with acute respiratory illness to 14 hospitals US Hospitalized Adult Influenza Vaccine Effectiveness Network (HAIVEN) and testing positive were cases; patients negative controls. VE was using logistic regression inverse probability treatment weighting. analyzed data from 2863 a mean age 63 years. Adjusted against...

Introduction: Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a hematological malignancy with an excellent prognostic outcome. After the advancements in CML treatment and introduction of different tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), life expectancy patients has become equivalent to that general population. As result, coronary artery disease anticipated be leading cause death among patients. Moreover, TKI use associated risk endothelial dysfunction, thrombosis, cardiovascular events, including myocardial...
