This study was performed to compare continuous Finapres (FIN) and intrabrachial (IAP) blood pressure in healthy elderly volunteers. Fifteen subjects (age 71 83) without cardiovascular disease an intraarterial mean (range) systolic diastolic of 162 (122 195) 73 (62 88) mm Hg, respectively, participated the study. A 10-min head-up tilt, 10 min active standing, a 15-sec Valsalva, 5-min mental arithmetic were random order. Beat-to-beat values systolic, diastolic, arterial analyzed. At rest, FIN...

In an open triple crossover study in 10 patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension the influence was investigated of adding indomethacin 50 mg, naproxen 250 or sulindac 200 each twice daily for four weeks, diuretic treatment hydrochlorothiazide mg a day. After two weeks9 slight increase blood pressure observed, whereas both and tended enhance antihypertensive effect hydrochlorothiazide. however, effects all three drugs on appeared be blunted. Furthermore, body weight increased...

Abstract We report on a 2023 outbreak of severe hand, foot, and mouth disease in southern Vietnam caused by an emerging lineage enterovirus A71 subgenogroup B5. Affected children were significantly older than those reported during previous outbreaks. The virus should be closely monitored to assess its potential for global dispersal.

Abstract Until now the clinical criteria for diagnosis of vascular parkinsonism (VP) have been disputed. The purpose present study is to investigate whether quantitative gait analysis can differentiate between pattern patients with VP and idiopathic Parkinson's disease (PD). Twelve VP, 12 PD, 10 neurologically nondiseased controls were examined by analysis. Patients having a similar velocity stride length, showed relatively preserved arm swing markedly more anteflexion in shoulder on forward...

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Early detection crucial, yet reliable biomarkers are limited. Methylated SEPT9 (mSEPT9) has emerged as promising biomarker for...

To investigate the influence of hormonal status on skin vascular reactivity, 18 males, women using oral contraceptives (oc), 17 premenopausal, and postmenopausal were studied. Finger temperature (FST, in degrees C) laser Doppler flux (LDF, perfusion units) measured during heating (45 C water bath) cooling (15 followed by a subsequent recovery period. Maximal heat-induced vasodilation was significantly higher oc premenopausal when compared with males. During cooling, FST LDF males women,...

In 12 healthy male volunteers (27-53 yr), a placebo-controlled randomized double blind cross-over trial was performed to study the effect of intravenous injection 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, and 6 mg draflazine (a selective nucleoside transport inhibitor) on hemodynamic neurohumoral parameters ex vivo inhibition. We hypothesized that an dosage without would still be able augment forearm vasodilator response intraarterially infused adenosine. Heart rate (electrocardiography), systolic blood pressure...

Systemic hyperinsulinaemia induces vasodilatation in human skeletal muscle. This effect is gradual onset, and at low insulin levels not maximal until least 3 h. To investigate whether the vasodilator response to results from a direct vascular effect, we infused directly into cannulated brachial artery (perfused forearm technique) total of 30 experiments 20 healthy, lean, normotensive volunteers. Local, intra‐arterial, infusion (180 min, 0.3 mU dL −1 volume min , n = 15, venous concentration...

In 99 patients with primary Raynaud's phenomenon (RP), in 97 secondary RP and 101 healthy subjects, finger skin temperature laser Doppler flux were measured before, during after immersion of the hand a 16 degrees C water bath. We determined baseline value, values at end cooling period 12 20 min recovery, percentual decrease mean cooling, recovery whole test. Most parameters significantly lower females than males all three groups. There no significant differences between either or RP. both...

Background:Masked hypertension (MH) is defined as a normal blood pressure in the physician's office and an elevated when measured out-of-office. The cause of MH may be termed masked effect (MHE), not restricted to blood-pressure (BP) values around thresholds for BP. We investigated prevalence persistence MHE patients who were being treated high BP had been followed period 1 year.

Prion diseases are a group of neurodegenerative affecting wide range mammalian species, including humans. During the course disease, abnormally folded scrapie prion protein (PrP Sc ) accumulates in central nervous system where it causes neurodegeneration. In disorders, diverse spectrum illnesses exists because presence different isoforms PrP they occupy distinct conformational states called strains. Strains biochemically distinguished by characteristic three-band immunoblot pattern, defined...
