Rice diterpenoid phytoalexins such as momilactones and phytocassanes are produced in suspension-cultured rice cells treated with a chitin oligosaccharide elicitor leaves irradiated UV light. The common substrate geranylgeranyl diphosphate is converted into diterpene hydrocarbon precursors via two-step sequential cyclization then the bioactive several oxidation steps. It has been suggested that microsomal cytochrome P-450 monooxygenases (P-450s) involved downstream of hydrocarbons leading to...

The production of phytoalexins is a well-documented defense response against pathogen infection in rice. Although jasmonic acid has been suggested to be involved the both suspension-cultured rice cells and leaves, there almost no information on other secondary signaling molecules that regulate In this study, major diterpenoid phytoalexins, momilactones phytocassanes, was found induced by cytokinin treatment also upregulation phytoalexin biosynthetic genes treatment. roles cytokinins infected...

A very high tunable inter-digital capacitor (IDC) using the bismuth zinc niobate (BZN) pyrochlore thin-film dielectrics is presented for microwave applications. To increase tunability of IDC and reduce DC bias voltage, its electrodes are fully embedded into BZN dielectrics. At 20 V applied, yields 72 75% at 2.4 5.8 GHz, respectively.

The powder morphology (shape and size) of feedstock has a very important role in metal coatings when applied using the cold gas dynamic spray process. In this study, spraying dendritic Cu powders was investigated. hydrodynamic processes involved are complicated to simulate. Compared particles ideal spherical shape, fragmentation irregularly shaped is more severe, size distribution profiles continuously change turbulent stream before arrive at substrates. Thus, theoretical effects particle on...

Antimicrobial activities Chaenomeles sinensis extracts were investigated using paper disc method continuous sequential dilution respectively. Total phenol flavonoid contents measured. As a result, showed high antimicrobial activity did not affect beneficial intestinal microorganisms. In addition, activity. These results suggest that...

YSZ films have been widely used as buffer layers for high T/sub c/ superconductor. However, it is necessary to investigate and develop another layer with suitable, simple, neat processing. Films of Ce-Zr mixed oxide were deposited by rf dc magnetron co-sputtering. In sputtering process, power Zr was fixed in 200 W while Ce varied 30 W, 50 100 respectively. As-deposited (Ce/sub x/Zr/sub 1-x/)O/sub 2/ crystallized without post annealing. It confirmed that the composition could be controlled...

Abstract This work investigates the effect of feedstock size on hardness and wear resistance metal-matrix composite coatings produced by cold spraying. Feedstocks consisting Al Al2O3 powders were prepared for study. The feedstocks, which differ in regard to particle (100, 50, 10 µm) composition (25-50 vol%), accelerated compressed air through a Delaval-type nozzle positioned mm from target substrate. morphology coating resembled that an matrix with embedded particles. Optical microscopy...

Abstract This study investigates the effects of various reinforcement materials and solid lubricants on cold spray aluminum composite coatings. The wear resistance friction coefficient coatings were very different with without a lubricant. It was found that Al2O3 greatly improves properties, Mo results in better dispersion hardening, MoS2 reduces coefficient.

Abstract It is well known that the inlet temperature of spray gas influences impact velocity particles which, in turn, affects mechanical and chemical properties final coating. From cold high- and-low-melting-point feedstock such as Cu-Sn, it was found those effects can vary with changes particle shape size. Copper powder feedstocks different shapes, dendritic (under 25 μm), were selected for analysis. For spherical 10 μm) powders Cu6Sn5, an intermetallic compound (IMC) Cu-Sn formed...

Palladium(II) acetate immobilized on N,N-diethylaminopropyl amorphous alumina (NDEAP-Al2O3-Pd(OAc)2) was synthesized and found to promote the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. Thus, reaction of Pd(OAc)2 in THF followed by evaporation dryness gave NDEAP-Al2O3-Pd(OAc)2 (Pd/alumina = 0.025 mol/g). The coupling aryl halides with arylboronic acids carried out presence (20 mol% Pd) H2O-EtOH give corresponding biaryls high yield (17 examples, 74-100% yield).
