Abstract Background The relationship between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and its derived index, triglyceride glucose-waist height ratio (TyG-WHtR), with mortality cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in patients non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) remains unclear. Methods This study enrolled 6627 adults aged 18 above diagnosed NAFLD from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES, 1999–2018). Binary weighted logistic regression analyses, cox proportional hazards model...

Pyroptosis is a form of caspase-1-dependent programmed cell death with anti-tumor properties, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. The results our study showed that antihyperlipidemic drug simvastatin induced pyroptosis in non-small lung cancer (NSCLC) lines and xenograft mouse model.Inhibition attenuated effects on tumor viability migration. These data suggest may induce pyroptosis, thereby potentially serving as novel therapeutic agent for NSCLC.

Background: Glucose transporter type-1 deficiency syndrome (GLUT1-DS) arises from variants in the SLC2A1 gene encoding glucose (GLUT1). Genetic analysis of a GLUT1-DS family identified recurrent heterozygous synonymous variant, adjacent to 5-prime donor splice site (NG_008232.1(NM_006516.4): c.972G>A, NP_006507.2: p.Ser324=). The proximity and segregation warranted an investigation into mRNA splicing. same genotype has been published two further multiplex families without functional...

ABSTRACT Gut microbiota dysbiosis plays a role in the pathogenesis of post-acute coronavirus disease (COVID-19); however, long-term recovery gut following SARS-CoV-2 infection remains insufficiently understood. In this study, 239 fecal samples were collected from 87 COVID-19 patients during acute phase, and at 6 months, 1 year, 2 years post-discharge. An additional 48 non-COVID-19 controls also analyzed. enterotypes determined through 16S rRNA sequencing, dynamic changes phase assessed....

Gastroesophageal reflux impairs the mucosal barrier in distal esophagus, allowing chronic exposure of squamous epithelium to multitudinous stimulations and inducing inflammation.Esophagitis is a response inflammation esophageal mucosa. Our study clarified that alcohol accumulation could aggravate progress esophagitis by pyroptosis; however, Ac-YVAD-CMK, an inhibitor caspase-1, effectively suppress expression IL-1β IL-18 both vivo vitro, reducing inflammatory response, which promised be agent...

The delayed platelet engraftment associated with allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is a common complication and often results in increased transplant-related complications. A single-center, prospective, investigator-initiated pilot study was conducted to explore whether herombopag, second generation thrombopoietin-receptor agonist, would promote after allo-HSCT. Between 2/2022 06/2022, 17 individuals (median age 39; range 15-58 years) hematological malignancies...

Background/Aims: Lung cancer is one of the leading causes for mortality. The poor therapeutic outcome non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) mainly due to late diagnosis and chemoresistance. In this study, we investigated role Musashi1 (MSI1) in NSCLC malignancy Methods: Colony formation, MTT, glucose uptake lactate production assays were employed study RT-PCR Western blotting performed detect mRNA protein expressions genes. We used immunohistochemistry Pearson correlation analysis...

Androgens have been recognized to be primary causative agents of prostate cancer. Following binding the androgen receptor (AR), androgens serve important roles in carcinogenesis cancers. ARs an role during all stages cancer, and inhibiting their function may help slow cancer growth. In present study, AR gene was targeted androgen‑positive cells using clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats‑associated protein (CRISPR/Cas) system. A total three different single‑guide RNAs...

Aberrant epigenetic drivers or suppressors contribute to LUAD progression and drug resistance, including KRAS, PTEN, Keap1. Human Plant Homeodomain (PHD) finger protein 1 (PHF1) coordinates with H3K36me3 increase nucleosomal DNA accessibility. Previous studies revealed that PHF1 is markedly upregulated in various tumors enhances cell proliferation, migration tumorigenesis. However, its roles are still unknown. Intermuscular adipose tissue is located between the muscle fiber bundles in skeletal muscles, and has similar metabolic features to visceral tissue, which been found be related a number of obesity-related diseases. Although various miRNAs are known play crucial roles deposition adipogenesis, microRNA transcriptome intermuscular not, until now, studied. Here, we sequenced miRNA transcriptomes porcine by small RNA-sequencing compared it representative subcutaneous tissue. We that inflammation-...
