Our study analyzes 40 years' experience with pediatric Langerhans cell histiocytosis patients.Between June 1968 and December 2009, 121 patients (79 males, 42 females; median age 4.13 y) were diagnosed at our center (74% monosystemic disease; 26% multisystemic), treated according to current protocols. We evaluated the response, survival, neuroendocrinological sequelae.Overall survival (OS) for all was 93% 10 years from diagnosis, event-free (EFS) 77%. OS younger than 2 older or equal 82% 97%...

Background: The prognosis of cerebral metastases (MTS) is linked to progression both systemic and local disease. importance MTS resection has been already pointed out. observation a high mortality for not-neurological causes confirms that the modern treatments allow significant control disease within nervous system. Nevertheless, management difficulties increase with multiple lesions in these cases role surgery still be defined.Materials Methods: We collected clinical data patients operated...

Langerhans cell histiocytosis is rare and frequently involves the bone. We retrospectively reviewed orthopaedic aspects (symptoms, localizations, treatments) long-term outcome [disease status, overall survival (OS), event-free (EFS)] of 121 patients (June 1968-December 2009). The main symptom was local pain. treatment mainly conservative. most frequent localization osseous monofocal (62% monosystemic diseases). Monosystemic after 1991 (OS, P=0.007; EFS, P=0.03) age older than 2 years...

A 14-year-old girl was examined for a right lateral neck swelling and radiographic mediastinal widening. Biopsy of supraclavicular lymph node demonstrated the nodular sclerosing form Hodgkin's lymphoma. An 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (F18-FDG-PET/CT) study showed several pathological areas lymph-node uptake in upper mediastum distal tibia. Radiography tibia revealed nonossifying fibroma site corresponding to tibial uptake. The PET appearance benign...
