To identify the mechanism of hyperuricemia in glycogen storage diseases (glycogenoses) that affect muscle, we studied effects exercise and prolonged rest on purine metabolism two patients with glycogenosis type III (debrancher deficiency), one patient V (muscle phosphorylase VII phosphofructokinase deficiency). All had except for III. Plasma concentrations ammonia, inosine, hypoxanthine increased markedly all after mild leg a bicycle ergometer. The plasma urate also increased, but delayed...

The differential tissue-specific regulation of glucokinase activity in liver and pancreatic islet cells was investigated the insulinoma-bearing rat. A transplantable insulinoma caused hyperinsulinemia hypoglycemia host by 2-3 months after implantation. Suppression B-cells high insulin and/or low glucose manifested itself a decrease tissue. Removal tumor initiated transient deficiency hyperglycemia with extremes these changes at 24 h resection. These conditions markedly affected...

Although insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, little is known about their roles ischemic stroke. The purpose this study was to clarify whether are causative factors stroke.Thirty-four consecutive patients with stroke, who were normotensive, nondiabetic, not obese, classified into three groups--atherothrombotic infarction (n = 16), lacunar 10), cardioembolic 8)--based on clinical findings, brain imaging, cerebral angiography. Abstract Background and Aim Tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) is a new prodrug of tenofovir, enabling treatment patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection at lower dose than tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), via more efficient delivery to the hepatocytes. We compared efficacy safety TDF TAF investigated switching from therapy. Methods Consent for therapy was obtained 117 67 August 2014 January 2018. In total, 45 14 were administered TAF, respectively, as naïve therapy, 36 switched TAF. The...

To investigate purine catabolism in exercising muscles of patients with muscle glycogen storage disease, we performed ischemic forearm exercise tests and quantitated metabolites appearing cubital venous blood. Two disease type V three VII participated this study. Basal lactate concentrations lowered every patient or VII. VII, who had markedly elevated serum uric acid (14.3 11.9 mg/dl, respectively), showed high basal ammonia (118 79 mumol/liter, respectively; 23 +/- 4 mumol/liter healthy...

Infrared thermography systems have been used for fever screening at many airports since the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in 2003. However, these are expensive and non-portable. Therefore, we developed a cost-effective compact (2.9 × 5.8 2.0 cm) thermopile array patients with infectious diseases clinical setting. The was created small pixels (48 47 = 2256 pixels) fabricated on silicon wafer using microelectromechanical technology. Type VII glycogenosis (muscle phosphofructokinase deficiency) is attended by hyperuricemia and hyperuricosuria. In one patient, we found that exercise on a bicycle ergometer increased plasma uric acid, inosine, hypoxanthine levels. Forearm also markedly venous hypoxanthine, ammonia in the exercising arm of two patients. Exaggerated release precursors for acid synthesis from muscle may be related to hyperuricemia.
