Purpose: To examine the relationships between axial length and foveal peripheral retinal thickness. Methods: Using optical coherence tomography, thickness was measured in participants of population-based Beijing Eye Study without optic nerve or macula diseases. Inner outer nuclear layer as surrogate for assessed fundus periphery human globes enucleated due to malignant uveal melanoma painful glaucoma. Results: The study included 1117 individuals with a mean age 64.2 ± 9.7 years (range: 50–93...

Purpose To measure retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in a population-based setting. Methods In the Beijing Eye Study 2011 with 3468 individuals, RNFL was measured subgroup of 1654 (47.7%) study participants by spectral domain optical coherence tomography (iVue SD-OCT). Results Mean significantly (P<0.001) higher inferior sector (131.4±20.6 µm) than superior (126.1±19.1 µm), where it temporal (79.8±12.2 µm;P<0.001), nasal (75.1±12.6 µm;P<0.001). multivariate analysis, mean global...

Brain neural networks intricately integrate excitatory and inhibitory synaptic potentials to modulate the generation or suppression of action potentials, laying foundation for neuronal computation. Although bioinspired nanofluidic systems have replicated some functions, complete integration postsynaptic remains unachieved. In this work, developed ion concentration gradient memristor (ICGNM) modulates memristive effects through adjustments exhibits plasticity phenomena, including paired-pulse...

Segmentation of multiple surfaces in optical coherence tomography (OCT) images is a challenging problem, further complicated by the frequent presence weak boundaries, varying layer thicknesses, and mutual influence between adjacent surfaces. The traditional graph-based optimal surface segmentation method has proven its effectiveness with ability to capture various priors uniform graph model. However, efficacy heavily relies on handcrafted features that are used define cost for "goodness"...

Purpose To investigate relationships between blood pressure and the thickness of single retinal layers in macula. Methods Participants population-based Beijing Eye Study, free or optic nerve disease, underwent medical ophthalmological examinations including optical coherence tomographic examination Applying a multiple-surface segmentation solution, we automatically segmented retina into its various layers. Results The study included 2237 participants (mean age 61.8±8.4 years, range 50–93...
