This paper uses quasi-experimental variation from federal tax reform to evaluate the effect of EITC on infant health outcomes. We find that reduces incidence low birth weight and increases mean weight: a $1,000 treatment-on-the-treated leads 2 3 percent decline in weight. Our results suggest candidate mechanisms include more prenatal care less negative behaviors (smoking). Additionally, we shift public private insurance coverage, for some reduction overall, indicating potential change...

Evidence suggests that excise taxes on tobacco improve fetal health. However, it remains unknown if smoke exposure in early life causes lasting harm to children. I find utero a dollar increase the state cigarette tax 10 percent decrease sick days from school and 4.7 having two or more doctor visits. present additional evidence for decreases hospitalizations asthma. This supports hypothesis infancy carries significant medium-term costs, can lead intergenerational improvements well-being. (JEL...

What is Known PCR based gastrointestinal pathogen testing highly sensitive and specific. may be clinically too sensitive. New The positive predictive value of the Biofire FilmArray™ panel for stool culture organisms was modest, ~60% in pediatric patients. None multi‐positive GI panels were confirmed by culture. Positive, especially should carefully considered clinical setting.

Silver and gold clusters have received a lot of recent attention for their use in biomedical imaging. However, crude solutions are often complex mixtures, leading to discrepancies identification characterization; important factors determining utility biological applications. In the present study, silver were separated analysis using reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography, which has previously been implemented efficient separation clusters. Using fluorescence excitation-emission...

The stock market crash of 2008 caused a severe impact to households. Earlier research has explored the impacts on life well‐being, psychological stress, and adult health behaviors. We extend this literature by documenting fluctuations range child outcomes; including effects both mental physical health. show negative effect hospitalizations, reported status, sick days from school, an aggregate index measure. Abstract Introduction Acute myocardial ischaemia and the transition from reversible to irreversible injury are associated with abnormal metabolic patterns. Advances in metabolomics have extended our capabilities define these perturbations on a metabolome-wide scale. Abstract This work highlights the possibility of using microstructured fibres with predefined doped regions to produce functional microstructures at a fibre facet differential chemical etching. A specially designed silica (MSF) that possesses specific boron-doped was fabricated for purpose generating radial micronozzle array. The MSF drawn from preform comprising pure capillaries surrounded by rods. Different etching rates and fiber produces raised nozzles where were placed. Fabrication...
