Abstract Large numbers of students depart from engineering programs before graduation. For example, in fields such as and computer science, have commented on the inaccessible or unapproachable nature faculty. To evaluate this problem, study gathered data across four research universities. Using structural equation modeling, it measured environmental effects, i.e., academic integration faculty distance (a) self‐efficacy, (b) confidence (c) self‐regulated learning behaviors effort, critical...
Because educational theorists have maintained that classroom environment strongly predicts academic success, we utilized Bandura's (1986) model measuring environment, self, and behavior to GPA using approximately 700 engineering students. A structural equation analysis indicated discrimination affected females more frequently while integration had positive effects on females' self-efficacy, perceived helpseeking, effort, critical thinking.
To determine if postmortem examinations of fetuses and infants change the diagnosis obtained at prenatal ultrasound affect counseling future pregnancies, there has been a over recent years in accuracy diagnosis. This was retrospective review 455 autopsies with developmental anomalies performed Trondheim University Hospital between 1995 2004 examination tertiary referral center. The routine were by specially trained midwives obstetricians, scans fetal medicine experts consultant pathologists...
We evaluated colposcopy in the routine diagnostic workup of women with abnormal cervical cytology, as well value endocervical curettage material and biopsies taken from colposcopy-positive colposcopy-negative quadrants cervix. This cross-sectional study included 297 nonpregnant cytology no prior treatment for dysplasia or cancer. All underwent gynecological examination, colposcopy, curettage, had taken. Colposcopy was considered satisfactory if squamocolumnar junction fully visible, were all...

Research on stillbirths and placental pathology has traditionally been given low priority, causing a lack of understanding the mechanisms leading to death. The purpose this study was gain knowledge how many perinatal deaths relate morphologic changes in placenta, what role placenta plays pathogenesis intrauterine, intrapartum, neonatal deaths. autopsy reports from 104 consecutive 5-year period (2004-2008) were reviewed. Intrauterine, ranging gestational age 22 weeks up 7 days postpartum...
Placental pathology is an essential tool for understanding neonatal illness. The recent Amsterdam international consensus has standardized criteria and terminology, providing harmonized data research clinical care.To evaluate the interobserver reliability of these between pathologists at different levels experience using digitally scanned slides from placentas in a birth population including large proportion normal deliveries. This was secondary analysis selected case-control study placental...
Objective A prenatal ultrasound examination and a postmortem provide the basis for correct diagnosis in fetuses terminated due to congenital anomalies. The aim of this study was correlate fetal anomalies detected by with those identified at autopsy following termination pregnancy (TOP) over 30-year period, evaluate correlation between findings different gestational ages assess these trends time. Methods group consisted 1029 TOPs performed from 1985 2014. age ranged 11 33 weeks. Prenatal...
The results of X-band EPR, X-ray absorption and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy on Pt(NH(3))(4)(2+) exchanged NaX, NaY NaA zeolites reveal after oxygen calcination at 573 K that diamagnetic Pt(2+) is not the only product. Calcination provides Pt(3+) cations, but depending heating rate, decomposition amino groups during also produces hydrogen reduces to Pt(+). NaX (Si/Al = 1.23) has a more negative framework charge than 2.31), so can be stabilized in whereas lower oxidation states Pt...
The aim of our study was to retrospectively assess morphological findings in thanatophoric dysplasia, particularly, how many cases were cerebral manifestations with temporal lobe dysplasia identified. We also wanted register and analyze the proportions between lung, brain, body weight. Criteria for inclusion an autopsy performed during period ranging from 1985 2009 a diagnosis dysplasia. During 25-year 25 registered. Temporal recognized 52% cases, after 1998 described all cases. In 19...
The aim of our study was to categorize fetal deaths by different diagnostic groups and see what extent an autopsy a presumably normal fetus contributes the final diagnosis how many unexplained remain after examination placenta. We reviewed reports 351 fetuses with gestational age 12 or more weeks at Department Pathology Medical Genetics St Olavs Hospital during years 2001 through 2010. In records, 38.5% (135 351) were due noninfectious placenta causes, 31.6% (111 caused infections, 29.9%...
Traditionally, women were not welcome in higher education, especially male-dominated fields. Undoubtedly, have dramatically increased their enrollments many once male-only fields, such as law, medicine, and several of the sciences; nevertheless, engineering remains a field where continue to be underrepresented. This has often been attributed social barriers classrooms. However, new turn events reported: Young entering may receive grades greater tendency remain than men. To examine what...
Autopsies of fetuses with thanatophoric dysplasia (TD) have shown abnormal gyration the temporal lobes. In addition, head is relatively large compared abdomen. We evaluated by ultrasound six consecutive cases TD at 19 + 0 to 6 gestational weeks based on last menstrual period. observed and deep transverse sulci in lobes all cases; these features were confirmed autopsy. performed biometric assessment, including biparietal diameter (BPD) mean abdominal (MAD). For each MAD value fetuses, we...
In 1985 the authors of chapter on this topic for original Handbook Achieving Sex Equity through Education concluded that data patterns sex differences in mathematics participation and achievement were “inconsistent” (Stage, Kreinberg, Eccles, & Becker, 1985). many ways, their conclusion still holds.
Objectives Central nervous system (CNS) anomalies are the second most frequent category of congenital after heart defects (CHDs). In this study, aim was to investigate distribution different CNS with associated and karyotype in a fetal autopsy population terminated pregnancies over 30-year period correlate ultrasonographic diagnoses findings. Materials Methods This study includes 420 intact fetuses at gestational ages 11 + 0 33 6 from 1985 2014. An ultrasound (US) examination performed...
ABSTRACT Objective This study compares prenatal ultrasound examination and autopsy findings in fetuses infants with gastroschisis omphalocele. Method Criteria for inclusion the were an of fetuses/infants or omphalocele performed between January 1985 December 2009 a tertiary referral center. The results organized into five categories depending on degree agreement. Results Of 11 cases gastroschisis, only one was not detected at examination, rest had full 70 omphalocele, two diagnosed...
Metformin is suggested to reduce pregnancy complications in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). crosses the placenta and therapeutic concentrations are measured fetal circulation.
