Uveal melanoma (UM) is the most common intraocular tumour in adults and despite surgical or radiation treatment of primary tumours, ~50% patients progress to metastatic disease. Therapeutic options for UM are limited, with clinical trials having little impact. Here we perform whole-genome sequencing (WGS) 103 from all sites uveal tract (choroid, ciliary body, iris). While have low mutation burden (TMB), two subsets high TMB seen; one driven by germline MBD4 mutation, another ultraviolet...

<h3>Objective:</h3> To describe the ocular biometry and determinants of refractive error in an adult population Myanmar. <h3>Methods:</h3> A cross-sectional, population-based survey inhabitants 40 years age over from villages Meiktila District was performed; 2481 eligible participants were identified, 2076 participated study. Biometric components including axial length (AL), anterior chamber depth (ACD), vitreous (VCD), lens thickness (LT) corneal curvature (CC) measured. Lens opalescence...

Objective: To present the clinical features, management, and outcomes in a series of patients with orbital arteriovenous malformations (AVMs).Methods: Clinical records AVMs confirmed using angiography were reviewed as retrospective, noncomparative, interventional case series. Results: Eight (3 women 5 men) unilateral mean age 39 years (median, 36.5 years; range, 26-70 years) reviewed.Findings existed for an average 11.2 before diagnosis included periocular mass (7 patients, 88%); edema,...

Purpose: To determine if a circulating microRNA (miRNA) panel could be used to distinguish between uveal melanoma and nevi. Methods: We report on multicenter, cross-sectional study conducted June 2012 September 2015. The follow-up time was approximately 3 5 years. Blood drawn from participants presenting with nevus (n = 10), localized 50), or metastatic 5). Levels of 17 miRNAs were measured in blood samples using sensitive real-time PCR system. Results: A six (miR-16, miR-145, miR-146a,...

Immediate post-mastectomy breast reconstruction offers benefits; however, complications can compromise outcomes. Intraoperative indocyanine green fluorescence angiography (ICGFA) may mitigate perfusion-related (PRC); its interpretation remains subjective. Here, we examine and develop methods for ICGFA quantification, including machine learning (ML) algorithms complication prediction. video recordings of flap perfusion from a previous study patients undergoing nipple sparing mastectomy (NSM)...

Purpose: To report a series of patients who developed late complications secondary to silicone implants used in orbital fracture repairs and review the literature. Design: Retrospective interventional case series. Methods: Analysis records following repair wall fractures with implants. Results: Over 5-year period, 4 were seen arising from implant. There 3 males 1 female whose ages ranged 41–73 years. The time interval between initial insertion implant development was 1.5, 6, 10, 20 noted...

Germline mutations of BRCA1 and BRCA2 predispose individuals to a high risk breast ovarian cancer, elevated other cancers, including those the pancreas prostate. mutation carriers may have increased uveal melanoma (UM) cutaneous (CM), but associations with these cancers in been mixed. Here, we further assessed whether UM CM are associated or by assessing presence, segregation reported/predicted pathogenicity rare germline (variant allele frequency < 0.01) families multiple members affected...

Traumatic rupture of the superior oblique tendon is a rare cause acquired Brown's syndrome. This report describes case traumatic tendon, distal to trochlea, after injury with plant hook. The ruptured was reapproximated. Postoperatively, asymptomatic syndrome developed, although residual function muscle retained. Full-thickness upper eyelid lacerations, especially those caused by hook, must be explored carefully exclude rupture. Careful reapproximation can result in function.

Background and purpose: Gold standard sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping for breast cancer involves technetium-99m (99mTc) but has drawbacks. Indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence allows real-time visualisation of lymphatics nodes, routine use is not established. This study compares equivalency ICG to 99mTc. Methods: Prospective non-inferiority trial early patients undergoing SLN biopsy with 99mTc (2021-2023). Number SLNs identified, including metastatic rate failed mapping, were compared....
