Stable chitosan/PVA-based hydrogels were obtained by combining covalent and physical cross-linking methods. As cross-linkers, epoxy agents with different chain lengths used, while freeze-thaw cycles applied for additional cross-linking. The chemical structure of the hydrogel was examined FTIR spectroscopy whereas morphology analyzed SEM, showing well-defined pores dimensions around 50 μm in diameter. It proved that gel fraction network deeply influenced synthesis conditions. Chitosan/PVA...
Emulsion hydrogels are promising materials for encapsulating and stabilizing high amounts of hydrophobic essential oils in hydrophilic matrices. In this work, clove oil-loaded (CS/OP-C) synthesized by combining covalent physical cross-linking approaches. First, oil (CO) was emulsified stabilized a chitosan (CS) solution, which further hardened Schiff base with oxidized pullulan (OP). Second, the were subjected to freeze–thaw cycles and, as result, physically cross-linked polymeric walls....
Overuse of antimicrobials by the population has contributed to genetic modifications in bacteria and development antimicrobial resistance, which is very difficult combat nowadays. To solve this problem, it necessary develop new systems for administration active principles. Biocomposite containing silver nanoparticles can be a good medical alternative. In context, main objective study was obtain complex system form biocomposite film with properties based on chitosan, poly (vinyl alcohol)...
The therapeutic efficiency of plant extracts has been limited by their poor pharmaceutical availability. Hydrogels have promising potential to be applied as wound dressings due high capacity absorb exudates and enhanced performance in loading releasing extracts. In this work, pullulan/poly (vinyl alcohol) (P/PVA) hydrogels were first prepared using an eco-friendly method based on both a covalent physical cross-linking approach. Then, the loaded with hydroalcoholic extract Calendula...
The wound healing process is often slowed down as a result of complications from bacterial infections and inflammatory reactions. Therefore, it necessary to develop dressings with fast antibacterial anti-inflammatory activity that shorten the period by promoting cell migration proliferation. Chitosan (CS)-based hydrogels have been widely studied for their capabilities. Herein, we developed composite hydrogel based on CS PVA embedding silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) properties ibuprofen (Ib) an...
PVA/chitosan (PVA/CS) composite hydrogels incorporating silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared by double-cross-linked procedures: freeze–thawing and electrostatic interactions. Oxalic acid (OA) was used both for solubilization ionic cross-linking of CS. AgNPs covered CS (CS-AgNPs) with an average diameter 9 nm 18% obtained in the presence CS, acting as reducing agent particle stabilizer. The increase number freeze–thaw cycles, well PVA:CS OA:CS ratios, resulted gel fraction elastic...
Hydrogels based on biocompatible polysaccharides with biological activity that can slowly release an active principle at the wound site represent promising alternatives to traditional dressing materials. In this respect, new hydrogels curdlan derivative 2-hydroxypropyl dimethyl octyl ammonium groups (QCurd) and native (Curd) were obtained room temperature by covalent cross-linking using a diepoxy agent. The chemical structure of QCurd/Curd was investigated Fourier transform infrared...
The "sonic region" of the Sun corona remains extremely difficult to observe with spatial resolution and sensitivity sufficient understand fine scale phenomena that govern quiescent solar corona, as well lead coronal mass ejections (CMEs), which influence space weather. Improvement on this front requires eclipse-like conditions over long observation times. space-borne coronagraphs flown so far provided a continuous coverage external parts but their over-occulting system did not permit analyse...
Industrial and commercial use of engineered nanoparticles is rising. Less care given to the negative effects on environment wastewater treatment systems, which could release hazardous pathogens microorganisms threaten human health. Due their size features, artificial can easily enter systems impair treatment. This paper aimed focus nanoparticle detection limitations technologies. Nanoparticles have potential be utilised in waste water. By virtue its exceptionally high surface area, it...
Thermally-induced gelling systems based on Poloxamer 407 (PL) and polysaccharides are known for their biomedical applications; however, phase separation frequently occurs in mixtures of poloxamer neutral polysaccharides. In the present paper, carboxymethyl pullulan (CMP) (here synthesized) was proposed compatibilization with (PL). The miscibility between PL CMP dilute aqueous solution studied by capillary viscometry. substitution degrees higher than 0.5 proved to be compatible PL....
Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-maleic acid) [poly(NIPAAm-co-MA)] linear copolymer with comonomer molar ratio NIPAAm:MA = 94:6 was synthesized by free-radical copolymerization. The mass, MsD 28,000 Da, of poly(NIPAAm-co-MA) determined using hydrodynamic methods. self-assembly in aqueous solution at a concentration 0.015 g cm−3 within the pH interval from 1.8 to 10.6 and temperature 22 60°C investigated static dynamic light scattering. showed double responsiveness. Three types particles,...
Bacterial exopolysaccharides are increasingly harnessed to obtain hydrogels as drug delivery systems. Curdlan and phosphorylated curdlan were used prepare ionic by chemical crosslinking. By increasing the content from 1.1 3.1 meq/g hydrogel, morphology properties influenced: swelling ratio increased 9 16 g/g, release 50 85%, while Young's modulus decreased 35 14 kPa. The diffusion coefficient transport mechanism analyzed using mathematical models better fit was ensured Ritger–Peppas model....
Hydrogels based on natural and synthetic polymers inorganic nanoparticles proved to be a viable strategy in the fight against some Gram-positive Gram-negative bacteria. Additionally, numerous studies have demonstrated advantages of using ZnO medicine due their high antibacterial efficacy relatively low cost. Consequently, purpose our study was incorporate into chitosan/poly (vinyl alcohol)-based hydrogels order obtain biocomposite with antimicrobial properties. These hydrogels, prepared by...
