Aim: To determine the effects of alcohol consumption and smoking on onset hypertension in a long-term longitudinal study. Methods: 7511 non-hypertensive male workers were enrolled. This cohort study was performed over an 8-year period using results annual workers-health screening. The end-point defined as systolic blood pressure ≥ 140 mmHg, diastolic 90 or use antihypertensive drugs. For consumption, weekly intake (g ethanol/week) estimated (1 “gou” = 22 g ethanol). Annual survey data...

Abstract Aim To evaluate efficacy and safety of combination tadalafil + mirabegron for overactive bladder/benign prostatic hyperplasia (OAB/BPH). Methods Male patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (50 to 89 years), remaining OAB even after administering more than 8 weeks were randomly assigned either monotherapy group (5 mg/day) or tadalafil/mirabegron therapy mg/50 mg/day). The primary endpoint was change from baseline in total symptom score (OABSS) at week 12. secondary endpoints...

The aim this study was to assess prophylactic effect combined therapy acute stage and convalescent- chronic-stage against formation lesions. Methods Results In 85 patients, 103 giant (ANl), 46 medium-sized (ANm), 13 small (ANs) were analyzed. With respect stage, no localized stenosis ANl left coronary artery noted patients who received high-dose gamma...

n order to examine the fine structure of lingual dorsal surface beagle dog, scanning electron microscopy was performed after removing extracellular attached substance from by acid hydrolysis. In this species, filiform papillae were found be closely distributed over entire tongue. On apical surface, some conical twigs encircled baso-frontal dome-shaped bulge back, semicircularly. Towards middle area body, became gradually smaller and flatter. Only central twig larger other smaller. Fungiform...

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) contribute to extracellular remodeling in Kawasaki disease (KD). MMP-9 is an essential vasculature-remodeling factor but its role the vascular lesions of KD not understood. This study focused on regulation via cytokines endothelial cells (ECs).Plasma and peripheral blood mononuclear were obtained from 30 patients, 15 non-febrile 25 febrile children. Plasma MMP-1, -2, -9, tissue inhibitor MMP (TIMP)-1 -2 measured by 2-step sandwich ELISA. Immunohistology was...

Cone-beam CT (CBCT) images acquired during radiation treatment can be used to recalculate the dose distribution as well confirm location. However, it is difficult obtain electron densities (EDs) necessary for calculation from CBCT because of effects scatter contamination image acquisition. This paper presents a mathematical method converting pixel values (CBCT values) into Hounsfield units (HUs) simulation (simCT) use in planning. are converted HUs by matching histograms with each slice via...

In patients undergoing radiotherapy for localized prostate cancer, dose–volume histograms and clinical variables were examined to search correlations between radiation treatment planning parameters late rectal bleeding. We analyzed 129 with cancer who managed from 2002 2010 at our institution. They treated 3D conformal therapy (3D-CRT, 70 Gy/35 fractions, 55 patients) or intensity-modulated (IMRT, 76 Gy/38 74 patients). All plans retrospectively reconstructed, of the rectum generated, doses...

ObjectiveLow-dose-rate (LDR) brachytherapy is an effective treatment for tongue cancer. However, little known about the biological mechanism underlying this therapy, characterized by delivery of continuous exposures LDR irradiation. It reported that lower microvessel density (MVD), Ki-67 index or higher expression endogenous hypoxic markers such as carbonic CA IX and Glut-1 are related to poor control tumors treated with external To elucidate characteristics brachytherapy, we analyzed our...

A 13-year-old boy with severe coronary stenosis due to Kawasaki disease underwent percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTCA). The guide wire and the balloon catheter easily passed through in left anterior descending artery. However, effective dilatation could not be achieved even when size was increased 2.5mm diameter. We discontinued further inflation of because serious resistance encountered on withdrawal catheter. In patients disease, value PTCA as a treatment for is questionable.
