The Stanford Integrated Psychosocial Assessment for Transplantation (SIPAT) is a psychometric instrument designed to assess patient risk transplant. We investigated the association between SIPAT scores and demographic data with psychosocial medical outcomes within diverse kidney/kidney-pancreas transplant population. The was administered all pretransplant candidates. A retrospective review of transplanted patients who had at least 6 months follow-up completed. The sample included 136 patients:...

Vancomycin, a commonly prescribed antibiotic particularly in the setting of multi-drug resistant infections, is limited by its nephrotoxicity. Despite common occurrence, much remains unknown on clinicopathologic profile as well pathogenesis vancomycin Clinical studies included patients often with severe comorbidities and concomitant polypharmacy confounding causal pathogenesis. Animal models cannot recapitulate this complex clinical situation. Kidney biopsy was not performed.

Disseminated strongyloidiasis in solid organ transplant recipients is a rare but devastating infection. In our center, we implemented universal screening of all candidates for kidney transplantation. We assessed the seroprevalence and utility center.Patients were identified from referral list (from July 2012 to June 2017). Demographics, pretransplant laboratory, serological screenings retrospectively collected. For Strongyloides-seropositive (SSp) patients, data on travel history, symptoms,...

Post-transplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) can lead to significant morbidity and cardiovascular death with a functioning graft. A paucity of literature exists regarding glycemic control in solid-organ transplant (SOT) recipients, including pharmacist management PTDM. This study aimed assess the impact interventions on pharmacist-run PTDM clinic. This was single-center, prospective, observational 24 adult SOT recipients enrolled pilot pharmacist-managed clinic from 1 January 30 June...

Given potential disparity and limited allocation of deceased donor kidneys for transplantation, a new federal kidney system was implemented in 2014. Donor organ function estimated recipient survival this has implications perioperative management transplant recipients. Early analysis suggests that many the anticipated goals are being attained. For anesthesiologists, increased dialysis duration burdens end-stage renal disease include cardiopulmonary disease, challenging fluid, hemodynamic...

Introduction: Concurrent atypical anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease with membranous nephropathy is a rare occurrence. Compared to typical anti-GBM disease, often seronegative, mild presentation and course. We present case of concomitant PLA2R-associated in patient cholangiocarcinoma. Case Presentation: A 66-year-old male type 2 diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hepatitis C, cirrhosis, cholangiocarcinoma presented nephrotic range proteinuria worsening bilateral lower...

Introduction: Rabbit antithymocyte globulin (ATG) has become the most widely used lymphocyte-depleting agent in solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Its use kidney transplantation for inducing immunosuppression treating rejection led to prolonged allograft patient survival.Areas covered: A MEDLINE search of MeSH terms ‘thymoglobulin,’ ‘rabbit globulin,’ ‘renal transplantation,’ ‘kidney ‘induction’ ‘rejection’ was last conducted on 18 April 2014. Most transplant centers do not screen kidney donor candidates for sickle cell trait (SCT) and many decline with SCT since it may associate disease. We compared 17 donors to propensity score matched controls on mortality, reduced eGFR, proteinuria failure. The prevalence of in African American (AA) was 11 per 1000 73 non-donor AA. Donors were younger; 33 versus 35 years controls, nine AA, six White, two listed as other or unknown ethnicities. After a follow-up period 18.2 ± 10.5 years, the...
