The Oriental species of Chaetocnema Stephens, 1831 are revised. There 85 valid species, including 19 new species: C. angustifrons sp. nov.; appendiculata baoshanica dapitanica glabra greenica jinxiuensis hongkongensis latapronota midimpunctata nigrilata parafusiformis paragreenica paraumesaoi purerulea reteimpunctata sabahensis subbasalis trapezoida nov. Fifteen synonyms proposed: assamensis Scherer, 1969 (syn. nov.) = hainanensis Chen, 1932; birmanica Jacoby, 1892 malayana Baly, 1877;...
The flea beetle genus Meishania Chen & Wang is revised and five new species—M. cangshanensis sp. nov., M. flavipennis fulvotigera sichuanica nov. from China bhutanensis Bhutan—are described. All species of are illustrated a key to provided.
Two new genera and species of flea beetles (Gansuapteris gen. nov., Primulavorus Gansuapteris fulvus sp. nov. maculata nov.) from south-west China are described illustrated. Distinguishing features the their allies discussed.
Menudos Linzmeier Konstantinov, a new genus of moss inhabiting flea beetles, containing five species, three them are (M. illariosus, M. maricao, and toronegro-the type species the genus), from Puerto Rico is described illustrated. The compared to Aedmon Clark, Apleuraltica Bechyne, Andersonaltica Distigmoptera Blake Ulrica Scherer. barberi (Blake, 1943b) chamorrae Konstantinov Konstantinova, 2011 transferred Menudos. A key identification provided. Methods for collecting beetles other...
Two new genera of flea beetles are described and illustrated: Brasilplatus Oliveira, Linzmeier Konstantinov genus, monotypic, type species B. bahianus species, Tupiniquim Linzmeier, Oliveira containing two T. pronotalis confusa the genus. These first inhabiting leaf litter in Brazil. belongs to subtribe Monoplatina is compared other known occur or moss cushions: Andersonaltica Konstantinov, 2012, Apleuraltica Bechyn, 1956 Ulrica Scherer, 1962. unique among New World beetles, it allies cannot...
Abstract The Alticini comprise 601 genera and 10,000 species, including plant pests. Their phylogeny remains largely unresolved, inhibiting taxonomic stability, specimen identification biological understanding. Here, we generated a genomic dataset using Anchored Hybrid Enrichment (AHE) for 54 of Alticini, 16 Galerucini, 40 other Chrysomelidae to test the monophyly its genus groups, examine utility established diagnostic characters. Maximum likelihood coalescent phylogenetic analyses produced...
Abstract The first cladistic analysis to determine the monophyletic status of alticine and galerucine leaf beetles their relationship one another is provided. A classification based on hypothesized relationships proposed. Fifty morphological characters adults were analyzed from twenty-nine taxa representing six traditionally recognized subfamilies (Orsodacninae, Aulacoscelidinae, Eumolpinae [including Synetini], Chrysomelinae, Galerucinae, Alticinae), with an emphasis thorough exemplar...
The decay K−→π0μ−ν has been studied using in-flight decays detected with the "STRA+" spectrometer. About 540K events were collected for analysis. λ+ and λ0 slope parameters of form-factors f+(t), f0(t) have measured: λ+=0.0277±0.0013(stat)±0.0009(syst), λ0=0.0183±0.0011(stat)±0.0006(syst), dλ0/dλ+=−0.348. limits on possible tensor scalar couplings derived: fT/f+(0)=−0.0007±0.0071, fS/f+(0)=0.0017±0.0014. No visible non-linearity in observed.
A high statistics data sample of the $$K^{+}\rightarrow \mu ^{+}\nu _{\mu }$$ decay was accumulated by OKA experiment in 2012. The missing mass analysis performed to search for channel _{H}$$ with a hypothetic stable heavy neutrino final state. obtained spectrum does not show peaks that could be attributed existence neutrinos range $$(270< m_{\nu _{H}} < 375)$$ MeV $$/c^{2}$$ . As result, upper limits on branching ratio and value mixing element $$|U_{\mu H}|^{2}$$ are obtained.
The world diversity of moss cushion-inhabiting and moss-feeding flea beetles is documented discussed. A new genus (Cangshanaltica) with a single species (Cangshanaltica nigra sp. nov.) from Yunnan Province in China described illustrated. It similar to Benedictus Scherer, Ivalia Jacoby, Minota Weise, Paraminota Phaelota Jacoby. An identification key for all beetle genera known occur mosses the eastern hemisphere provided....
Flea beetles (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae, Galerucinae, Alticini) are a hyperdiverse group of organisms with approximately 9900 species worldwide. In addition to walking as most insects do, nearly all the flea have an ability jump and this is commonly understood one key adaptations responsible for its diversity. Our investigation beetle jumping based on high-speed filming, micro-CT scans 3D reconstructions, provides mechanical description jump. We reveal that mechanism catapult in nature...
The xerophilous vegetation with characteristic insect assemblages is described in the main agricultural regions and native landscapes of Turkey. Long term intensive investigations documented vast biotic degradation soil (commonly referred to as desertification) by overgrazing, construction, recreation etc. Two types xeric landscape are under investigation: 1) natural highly specific deserts, semi-deserts, dry mountain slopes screes; 2) anthropogenic, newly emerged, floristically impoverished...
West Indian genera of the flea beetle subtribe Oedionychina Chapuis, 1875 are reviewed. Two new and one species described: Argusonychis Konstantinov, Van Roie, & Furth gen. nov. with clarki Roie sp. as type (Bahamas); Ciguapanychis Alagoasa bicolor (Linnaeus, 1767) (Puerto Rico). An illustrated key to found in Indies is provided. Each genus images external internal morphology, including thoracic structures, metendosternite, female male genitalia. Asphaera subfasciata Clark, 1860...
Kiskeya new genus and two species (K. baorucae K. neibae), from the Dominican Republic are described illustrated. is compared to Monotalla Bechyne, Normaltica Konstantinov, Clavicornaltica Scherer. Geographic ranges in which Greater Antillean endemics have closest relatives Old World discussed.
We report on a unique variant of the masquerade strategy, wherein small herbivorous leaf beetles (Chrysomelidae: Galerucinae) have recurrently evolved close resemblance to innocuous, unprofitable decoy objects their own manufacture, i.e. feeding damage. Our study is based worldwide sample 119 species in subfamily Galerucinae. Most (115) are members tribe Alticini, flea s.s., known for remarkably swift jumping ability and astonishing diversity. Masquerading small, ranging length from 1.4 4.2...
The following 18 new species of Diabrotica are described and illustrated as a result the synopsis North Central American species: D. barclayi sp. nov., Guatemala; caveyi Costa Rica; costaricensis dmitryogloblini Mexico; duckworthorum Honduras; hartjei Panama; josephbalyi lawrencei mantillerii martinjacobyi mitteri perkinsi redfordae reysmithi salvadorensis El Salvador; sel spangleri waltersi Panama. In addition, key to separate from related genera is presented.
Abstract The Asian flea beetles Altica cirsicola , fragariae and viridicyanea are broadly sympatric morphologically highly similar but feed on distantly related host plants. They have been suggested as a model for ecological speciation studies. However, their phylogeny species limits remain uncertain. In this study, we added mitochondrial genomes from multiple individuals of each to the growing database. Phylogenetic analyses based 15 genes showed clear interspecific divergences A. other...
