There is clinical equipoise for COVID-19 convalescent plasma (CCP) use in patients hospitalized with COVID-19.To determine the safety and efficacy of CCP compared placebo receiving noninvasive supplemental oxygen.CONTAIN COVID-19, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial adults was conducted at 21 US hospitals from April 17, 2020, to March 15, 2021. The enrolled 941 participants who were 3 or less days presented 7 after symptom onset required oxygen supplementation.A unit...
Stroke results in significant caregiver burden and strain. The main objectives of this study is to assess the its consequences caregivers stroke patients determine associated factors caregivers' burden.A cross-sectional was conducted over 1 year on 70 consecutive who attended Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad clinic. Demographic clinical characteristics all were recorded after obtaining consent. The modified rankin scale Barthel index administered patient, whereas Caregiver strain index,...
Background Infantile myofibromatosis (IM) is a disorder characterized by proliferation of benign myofibroblastic tumors that typically manifest as solitary or multiple nodules in the skin, muscle, bone, subcutaneous tissues, and visceral organs can pose significant morbidity mortality risks, particularly cases involving causing functional impairment. These soft tissue lesions are most prevalent fibrous present before age two undergo spontaneous regression amenable to surgical resection. Case...
Abstract Aim This study determined the effect of physician champions on two main components Kangaroo Mother Care ( KMC ): skin‐to‐skin care and breastfeeding. Methods practices among a retrospective cohort 648 infants admitted to rural Indian neonatal intensive unit NICU ) between January 5, 2011 October 7, 2014 were studied. identified based their performance evaluation. We examined withdrawing overall use, time initiation intensity breastfeeding, using separate models. Results In...
A 19-year-old male patient of Indian origin presented with a history gradually progressive generalised weakness and easy fatigability for past two months. He also had complaints fresh blood in stool last months, accompanied by pain during defecation. No similar complaints, tuberculosis, significant weight loss, malignancy, or worms could be elicited. The was non-smoker, non-alcoholic no known drug abuse. No elicited family members. On examination, the conscious, cooperative oriented to time,...
A 17-year-old previously healthy male was admitted to the hospital for intractable and persistent vomiting, fever, cough, abdominal pain, intermittent diarrhea dehydration. He presented with severe chest pain O2 desaturations up 80% on room air. An infectious (including a nasopharyngeal swab), GI, cardiac workup completed negative except elevated inflammatory markers C-reactive protein (CRP) level of 261 mg/L, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) 53 mm/hr, D-dimer 0.93 mcg/ml. Chest X-ray...
Noncommunicable diseases account for 53% of deaths and 44% disability-adjusted life years lost in India. Village health workers (VHWs) were trained blood pressure (BP) sugar (BS) measurement assessed using a checklist. A total 38 VHWs with mean age 44.8 years, schooling 9.9 scored 10.0 (76.9%) BP 9.74 (69.6%) BS. There was no difference scores education age. It is possible to train BS utilize them screening monitoring hypertension diabetes noncommunicable disease care program.
Background: Antenatal intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) is intracranial that occurs in utero at an incidence of 1–5 per 10,000. Though there very limited data on neurodevelopmental prognosis, antenatally diagnosed fetal hemorrhages carry a poor prognosis with estimated 40% mortality or within the first month after birth. Less than 50% survivors have normal outcomes during their postnatal follow-up. We present healthy, term infant, who was prenatally grade IV IVH. Case: A term, male infant...
High-risk low birth weight neonates admitted to NICUs require prolonged care, which is expensive. Kangaroo care (KC) involves skin-to-skin contact between a family member and the newborn, frequent exclusive (or nearly exclusive) breastfeeding, early discharge from hospital. It has many benefits, with decreased mortality, morbidity, better bonding, discharge, rapid establishment of being foremost among them. We studied association KC duration reduced hospital stay mortality as well …
Aim To compare positive pressure ventilation efficacy of a novel foot operated resuscitator (FOR) during with that self-inflating bag and mask (SIBM) using manikin model. Method A comparative trial was conducted 117 participants at level III neonatal intensive care unit Baby Anne (Laerdal Medical, Norway). Flow sensors were used to measure tidal volume propelled (Vp) delivered (Vt). Each participant 60 breaths, each device targeting adequate chest-rise defined as corresponding Vt 15–21 mL....
A full-term newborn with perinatal depression, meconium stained liquor, shock, and hypoglycemic seizures was admitted at a hospital after 70 hours of life. He ventilated, received antibiotics, vasopressors. After 8 left radial artery catheterization, ischemic changes appeared on tips all the fingers newborn. The catheter removed, intravenous unfractionated heparin started. Arterial Doppler revealed thrombus in both ulnar arteries. case category III (irreversible) acute arterial ischemia....
Emerging evidence suggests that patients with listed drug allergy have inferior outcomes than without allergies.Unverified penicillin can lead to utilizing less efficacious antibiotics, increased length/cost of hospital stay, and adverse effects including antibiotic resistance Clostridium difficile infections.Reports seldom reflect tested allergy.~0.2% undergo testing are truly allergic the medication. This project's first aim was assess prevalence label in Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital patient...
