Increasing numbers of survivors critical illness are at risk for physical, cognitive, and/or mental health impairments that may persist months or years after hospital discharge. The post-intensive care syndrome framework encompassing these multidimensional morbidities was developed the 2010 Society Critical Care Medicine conference on improving long-term outcomes and their families. To report engagement with non-critical providers during 2012 stakeholder conference. To determine the pulmonary complications in HIV-1-infected patients Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and to evaluate diagnostic utility of bronchoscopy bronchoalveolar lavage, we carried out a prospective study 237 with acute respiratory disease who were hospitalized at Muhimbili Medical Center (MMC). Diagnoses made using well-defined criteria. Of total, 127 (54%) HIV-1-seropositive 110 (46%) seronegative. Tuberculosis was most common diagnosis occurring 95 (75%) 87 (79%) seronegative patients....

The Global Cosmic-ray Observatory (GCOS) is a proposed large-scale observatory for studying ultra-high-energy cosmic particles, including rays (UHECRs), photons, and neutrinos. Its primary goal to characterise the properties of highest-energy particles in Nature with unprecedented accuracy, identify their elusive sources. With an aperture at least ten-fold larger than existing observatories, this next-generation facility should start operating after 2030, when present-day detectors will...

Using data from Fermilab photoproduction experiment E691, we measure the ratio of branching fractions between Cabibbo-suppressed modes B(D0→K−K+)B(D0→π−π+) to be 1.95±0.34±0.22. We also report for D0→K−K+ and D0→π−π+ relative Cabibbo-allowed decay D0→K−π+. Furthermore, place an upper limit 0.45 at 90% C.L. on CP-violating asymmetry in vs D¯0→K−K+ decays.Received 21 May 1991DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.44.R3371©1991 American Physical Society

We study neutrons produced in simulations of extensive air showers. By using the Monte Carlo simulation package Fluka, our examination is able to extend from highest energy neutrons, hadronic interactions, all way down thermal energies. The spectra, arrival times, and lateral distributions at ground are compared for different primary species, as longitudinal profiles neutron fluence. Direct comparisons drawn with analogous muons.

The neutron cloud of an air shower differs significantly from its well-studied electromagnetic and muonic components. Neutrons are the only neutral hadrons that stable on time scales showers. Due to their neutrality, energy losses neutrons minimal at low energies. Combined with stability showers, these make them highly abundant ground. However, they difficult detect simulate due, in part, energies involved. We present results based FLUKA simulation package, which accurately describes...
