Gymnothorax mucifer Snyder, 1904 has been synonymized with G. kidako (Temminck Schlegel, 1846) since 2000. Examination of material from Hawaii (type locality) and Taiwan reveal that is a valid species based on morphological molecular data. It can be distinguished by plainly colored lower jaw (vs. mottled), white margin the anal fin replaced serial pale blotches posteriorly tail continuous to tip tail), more dentary teeth (17-27 vs. 16-20), fewer total vertebrae (130-141 140-143). ABSTRACT Chromosome rearrangements significantly influence speciation, but the role of chromosome fission is paradoxical due to its link with unbalanced segregation. The kinetochore reproduction theory suggests that fissions from duplication should allow normal segregation, though empirical support remains scarce. In Opsariichthyini tribe (Asian river chub), number vary 2N=48 in most genera 76-78 Opsariichthys 15 events. harbors over species, substantially surpassing typical three four...

ABSTRACT The percomorph fish clade Gobioidei is a suborder that comprises over 2200 species distributed in nearly all aquatic habitats. To understand the genetics underlying their diversification, we sequenced and annotated genome of loach goby, Rhyacichthys aspro , an early‐diverging group, compared it with nine additional species. Within Gobioidei, goby possesses smallest at 594 Mb, rise diversity from to more recently diverged lineages mirrored by enlarged genomes higher presence...
