Malassezia furfur is lipophilic and lipid-dependent yeast, inhabitant of human skin microbiota associated with several dermal disorders. In recent years, along the advances in nanotechnology incentive to find new antimicrobial drugs, there has been a growing interest utilization nanoparticles for treatment microbial infections. This work aimed study vitro inhibitory activity silver (AgNP) against 41 M. clinical isolates, visualize interaction between AgNP-Malassezia, evaluate synergism...

We studied the in vitro activity of fluconazole (FCZ), ketoconazole (KTZ), miconazole (MCZ), voriconazole (VCZ), itraconazole (ITZ) and amphotericin B (AMB) against three major pathogenic Malassezia species, M. globosa, sympodialis, furfur. Antifungal susceptibilities were determined using broth microdilution method accordance with Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute reference document M27-A3. To support lipid-dependent yeast development, glucose, peptone, ox bile, malt extract,...

Malassezia species are natural inhabitants of the healthy skin. However, under certain conditions, they may cause or exacerbate several skin diseases. The ability this fungus to colonize infect is determined by complex interactions between fungal cell and its virulence factors. This study aims evaluate "in vitro" hydrophobicity levels, adherence on a plastic surface biofilm formation 16 clinical isolates furfur. Cellular (CSH) levels were two-phase system. was tetrazolium salt (XTT)...

The strict nutritional requirements of Malassezia species make it difficult to test the antifungal susceptibility. Treatments chronic and recurrent infections associated with spp. are usually ineffective. objective this study was obtain in vitro susceptibility profile 76 clinical isolates against 16 drugs used for topical or systemic treatment. Isolates were identified by restriction fragment length polymorphism. Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) obtained a modified microdilution...

Summary All Malassezia species are lipophilic; thus, modifications required in susceptibility testing methods to ensure their growth. Antifungal of using agar and broth dilution has been studied. Currently, few tests disc diffusion being performed. The aim was evaluate the vitro yeast against antifungal agents microdilution methods, then compare both methodologies. Fifty isolates were Microdilution method performed as described reference document test tablets discs. To support growth,...

Argentina has two endemic areas of paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM). Bordering Paraguay and Brazil, Northeast (NEA) comprises the area with highest incidence where chronic adult clinical form historically been reported. Juvenile in children adolescents is rare this since only one case was reported last 10 years. Despite this, between 2010 2012, several cases acute/subacute forms aged to 16 (median 12) were detected. In decade, NEA region exposed ecological variations as consequences certain...

Abstract The genus Malassezia comprises a heterogeneous group of species that cause similar pathologies. yeasts were considered as the most abundant skin eukaryotes total mycobiome. ability this fungus to colonize or infect is determined by complex interactions between fungal cell and its virulence factors. Information on paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM) in Argentina is fragmented and has historically been based estimates, supported only by a series of few reported cases. Considering the lack global information, national multicentric study order to carry out more comprehensive analysis was warranted. Abstract The impact of COVID‐19 on paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM) in Argentina and the consequences generated by pandemic are discussed. From 2018 to 3 years after declaration, 285 proven PCM patients were registered. No association between both diseases was documented. frequency decreased extremely low levels 2020. Mandatory social isolation emotional psychological effects under circumstances led delays diagnosis, severe disseminated cases, other challenges for diagnosis subsequent years....

Sporotrichosis is an implantation mycosis caused by Sporothrix spp. It distributed worldwide and can be found in vegetation soil. The most frequent route of infection trauma with elements contaminated fungal propagules. Since domestic cats are the affected animals transmit this to humans, sporotrichosis considered a zoonosis. Clinical presentations include nodular lymphangitis, fixed cutaneous, pulmonary (rare), disseminated (exceptional). To analyze epidemiology Argentina during 2010 2022....
