In this feature article we summarize the recent developments of stimuli responsive gels based on low molecular weight gelators (LMWGs) for which gel-sol transitions can be triggered by other besides heating. These include to redox reactions and light irradiations. Chemoresponsive are also introduced, including those induced with neutral molecules gel strength is improved following addition molecules. Perspectives such discussed regard their potential applications remaining challenging issues.

Lipid droplets (LDs) are intracellular storage sites for triacylglyerols (TAGs) and steryl esters, play essential roles in energy metabolism membrane biosynthesis. Adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) is the key enzyme TAG hydrolysis (lipolysis) adipocytes LD degradation nonadipocyte cells. Lipase activity of ATGL vivo largely depends on its C-terminal sequence as well coactivation by CGI-58. Here we demonstrate that hydrophobic domain required targeting CGI-58-independent degradation....

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The class III PI3K inhibitor, 3-methyladenine (3-MA), is commonly used to selectively block autophagy. Recent findings suggest a strong relationship between autophagy and lipid turnover. Here, we explore the effect of 3-MA on adipocyte lipolysis. EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH Assays were performed in 3T3-L1 cells. Cells treated with wortmannin, pan inhibitor. Pharmacological genetic manipulation endogenous autophagic lipolytic pathways was ascertain contribution observed...
