The study investigated the effect of Vinnex® (vinyl acetate polymer) and Joncryl® (epoxy-based copolymer) as compatibilizers on mechanical properties thermoplastic starch (TPS) polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT) succinate-co-adipate (PBSA) films. Due to TPS’s hydrophilicity brittleness, blending it with biodegradable polyesters like PBAT enhances its but may introduce compatibility challenges. This research evaluated three formulations (TPS/PBAT Vinnex, TPS/PBAT Joncryl, both...
The circular economy is a paradigm for the upcoming industrial era, in which plastic wastes must be focused on as new resources. Chemical valorisation permits deepening into waste-to-gate schemes by obtaining chemical platforms to reintroduced production market. In this context, potential of protic ionic liquid 2-hydroxyethyl ammonium acetate (2-HEAA) used homogeneous catalytic co-solvent glycolytic conversion post-consumer poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) was validated from different...
The transverse intrafascicular multichannel electrode (TIME) is intended to be transversally implanted in the peripheral nerve and selectively interface subsets of axons different fascicles within same nerve. Two versions TIME (TIME-2, TIME-3) were designed tested for biocompatibility safety sciatic rat. TIME-2 was two groups: one group had only an acute implant second chronic implantation 2 months; a third also chronically with TIME-3 version, avoid mechanical traction produced by muscles...
Objective. In this study we present the development and testing in a rat model of self-opening neural interface (SELINE), novel flexible peripheral interface. Approach. This polyimide-based electrode has three-dimensional structure that provides an anchorage system to nerve confers stability after implant. geometry been achieved by means plastic deformation polyimide. Mechanical electrochemical characterizations have performed prove integrity with very good results. Functionality SELINEs for...
Superhydrophobic poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membranes were obtained by a surface treatment consisting of oxygen plasma activation followed functionalisation with mixture silica precursor (SiP) (tetraethyl-orthosilicate [TEOS] or 3-(triethoxysilyl)-propylamine [APTES]) and fluoroalkylsilane (1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorooctyltriethoxysilane), benchmarked coated without activation. The modifications acted mainly on the surface, bulk properties remained stable. From statistical design experiments...
Graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) were synthetized from graphite powder and, thereafter, embedded in poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) (EVOH) fibers by electrospinning the 0.1–2 wt.-% range. The morphological, chemical, and thermal characterization performed on electrospun nanocomposite mats revealed that GNPs efficiently dispersed rolled along EVOH fibrilar matrix up to contents of 0.5 wt.-%. Additionally, dielectric behavior was evaluated as a function frequency range content. obtained results...
