A new fish species from the South China Sea, Pegasus nanhaiensis sp. nov., is described herein. The readily distinguished all other of genus with following characteristics: rounded hump-like tubercle on each dorsal plates I, II, and III. Noticeable hexagonal patterns carapace a clear boundary, two paired caudolateral overlapping junctions between tail rings II III, IV V. integrated evidence both morphological genetic studies indicates that P. represents an independent lineage within Pegasus.

Organophosphate esters (OPEs) are increasingly used as flame retardants and plasticizers in various products. In vivo vitro studies suggest that OPEs can affect metabolic health but the human evidence is lacking. We analyzed data from U.S. National Health Nutrition Examination Survey, 2011–2014, to examine associations between urinary OPE metabolites syndrome (MetS) its components adults. included a total of 1157 adults aged ≥20 years who had information on metabolites, MetS essential...

Agricultural chemicals with multifunctional applications in crop protection have attracted increasing attention. Herein, two new series of thiazole and imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine derivatives containing a hydrazone substructure were designed synthesized via concise synthesis route. Bioassay results showed that most the exhibited broad-spectrum fungistatic activities, which exemplified by compounds 1c, 1e, 1g, 1h 1j. In particular, compound 1e displayed excellent vitro inhibitory effects EC50...

Campylobacter species are the major food-borne pathogens which could cause bacterial gastroenteritis in humans. Contaminated chicken products have been recognized as primary vehicles of transmission to human beings. In this study, prevalence retail meat Central China was investigated, and isolates were further characterized using molecular approaches tested for antibiotic resistance.A total 302 samples purchased from April 2014 2015 tested. The level contamination enumerated by most probable...

Dill (Anethum graveolens) is a significant medicinal herb belonging to the Apiaceae family. Owing its high levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), dill commonly utilized for essential oil extraction and medicine purpose. However, biosynthesis crucial VOC in remains obscure. Identify key VOCs related flavor formation dissect regulatory mechanism their synthesis. The chromosomal-level genome was constructed by PacBio HiFi, Hi-C, BGISEQ second generation sequencing assembly. leaves were...

Physicochemical changes of myofibrillar proteins from silver carp surimi during frozen storage as affected by two manners ozone treatments were investigated. For preparation treated with ozone, water (8 mg/L) was used in either the first (To1) or second (To2) cycle rinsing. As compared control samples (Tc) (rinsing cycles water), To1 showed slightly lower free sulfhydryl contents and higher surface hydrophobicity throughout Ca 2+ -ATPase activities after 30 d. To2 did not significantly...

Urea is intensively utilized as a nitrogen fertilizer in agriculture, originating either from root uptake or catabolism of arginine by arginase. Despite its extensive use, the underlying physiological mechanisms urea, particularly adverse effects on seed germination and seedling growth under salt stress, remain unclear. In this study, we demonstrate that stress induces excessive hydrolysis arginine-derived leading to an increase cytoplasmic pH within radical cells, which, turn, triggers...

Sequence analysis of 79 ciprofloxacin-resistant Campylobacter jejuni isolates collected in China showed resistance-related sequence variations gyrA and CmeR-Box. All the contain an identical Thr-86-Ile substitution GyrA. Several novel CmeR-Box variations, including point substitutions, deletion, insertion, were identified. The insertion or deletion led to dramatically reduced binding CmeR cmeABC promoter, which significantly increases expression contributes high fluoroquinolone resistance.
