Abstract Background The factors affecting the prolonged air leak (PAL) and expansion failure in lung patients undergoing resection for malignancy were analyzed. In this context, value of percentage low attenuation area (LAA%) measured on preoperative quantitative chest computed tomography (Q-CT) predicting development postoperative PAL time remaining (ET) was investigated. Methods data 202 cases who underwent between July 2020 December 2022 ET investigated using univariate multivariate...
Exposure to high Ca concentrations may influence the development of low–turnover bone disease and coronary artery calcification (CAC) in patients on hemodialysis (HD). In this randomized, controlled study, we investigated effects lowering dialysate level progression CAC histologic abnormalities HD. Patients HD with intact parathyroid hormone levels ≤300 pg/ml receiving containing 1.75 or 1.50 mmol/L ( n =425) were randomized 1.25-mmol/L (1.25 Ca; =212) 1.75-mmol/L (1.75 =213) arm. Primary...
Patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) receiving antifibrotic medication and patients non-IPF fibrosing lung disease often demonstrate rates of annualised forced vital capacity (FVC) decline within the range measurement variation (5.0%-9.9%). We examined whether change in visual CT variables could help confirm marginal FVC declines represented genuine clinical deterioration rather than noise. In two IPF cohorts (cohort 1: n=103, cohort 2: n=108), separate pairs radiologists scored...
Iron-induced cardiac disease is the leading cause of death in thalassemia major (TM). Splenectomy performed TM to reduce transfusion requirements and iron intake. Prevalence myocardial siderosis its relationship with splenectomy 146 patients were investigated. The (T2*<20 ms) accounted for 42% cohort. Splenectomized had a higher incidence (48%) compared those having intact spleen (28%) significantly content. Higher content splenectomized may deserve special attention role regulation.
We describe a 44 year-old woman who presented with dyspnea and cough 5 years after initial diagnosis of ulcerative colitis. The evaluation patient showed findings large airway inflammation tracheal wall thickening mucosal irregularities. etiology was investigated diagnosed as tracheobronchitis that is rare extraintestinal manifestation She treated systemic corticosteroids rapid clinical improvement detected.
The effects of reducing the pulse repetition time from 2500 ms to 1000 when using spin-density-projection-assisted R2-magnetic resonance imaging for purpose measuring liver iron concentration were evaluated. Repeated R2 measurements made both protocols on 60 subjects with concentrations ranging 0.5 48.6 mg Fe (g dry tissue)−1. mean total scan at was 42% that ms. repeatability coefficients two not significantly different each other. A systematic difference in measured protocol found...
Cardiac involvement in thalassemia major (TM) is mainly characterized by left ventricular dysfunction caused iron overload. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) including myocardial T2* measurement becoming increasingly popular for quantitatively evaluating The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between value and functional parameters examine associations degree cardiac load various clinical parameters.A retrospective analysis 47 patients (25 males 22 females; mean...
Background Knowledge of the normal size thoracic aorta and pulmonary arteries is important regarding detection abnormal valuable in treatment patients with congenital acquired cardiovascular diseases. Purpose To determine diameters vascular structures pediatric participants on contrast-enhanced multidetector computer tomography (MDCT) scans. Material Methods Between July 2010 2014, MDCT examinations obtained from 520 (age range, 0–18 years; mean age, 8.49 years ± 5.54 [standard deviation];...
Abstract Objectives To review the computed tomography (CT) findings of common and uncommon high-attenuation pulmonary lesions to present a classification scheme various entities that can result in abnormalities based on pattern distribution CT. Background High-attenuation from deposition calcium or, less commonly, other material such as talc, amiodarone, iron, tin, mercury barium sulphate. CT is highly sensitive detection areas abnormally high attenuation lung parenchyma, airways,...
Abstract Background There is no consensus on the imaging modality to be used in diagnosis and management of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia. The purpose this study was make a comparison between computed tomography (CT) chest X-ray (CXR) through scoring system that can beneficial clinicians making triage patients diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia at their initial presentation hospital. Results Patients negative CXR (30.1%) had significantly lower score (CTS) ( p < 0.001)....
Necrotizing sarcoid granulomatosis (NSG) is a rare disease which classified in the spectrum of pulmonary angiitis and granulomatosis. It variant sarcoidosis differs from it histologically. Diagnosis based on pathological features, but radiology may help differential diagnosis. characterized by alveolar infiltrates or parenchymal nodules multidetector computed tomography (MDCT). We report case 50-year-old man with diagnosis NSG mimicking lung malignancy. Radiological findings also destructive...
Background Patients with thalassemia major (TM) require repeated blood transfusions, which leads to accumulation of iron in a wide variety tissues. Accumulation the pituitary gland can lead irreversible hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (HH) this group patients. Purpose To investigate reliability pituitary-R2 as marker estimate extent load by comparing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings hepatic and serum ferritin levels. Material Methods A total 38 β-TM patients were classified into HH...
Abstract Aims Left ventricular non‐compaction cardiomyopathy (LVNC) is a poorly understood entity resulting in heart failure. Whether it distinct form of or an anatomical phenotype subject discussion. The current diagnosis based on morphologic findings by comparing the compacted to non‐compacted myocardium. study aimed compare demographic and prognostic variables patients with dilated (DCM) LVNC. Emphasis was given cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging analysis. Data survival were also...
