Squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) originate in stratified epithelia, with a small subset becoming metastatic. Epithelial stem cells are targets for driver mutations that give rise to SCCs, but it is unknown whether they contribute oncogenic multipotency and metastasis. We developed mouse model of SCC by targeting two frequent genetic human oncogene Kras(G12D) activation Smad4 deletion, keratin 15-expressing (K15+) cells. show transgenic mice multilineage tumors, including metastatic SCCs....
Background Aberrant methylation of CpG islands in the promoter regions cancer-related genes has been demonstrated many human tumours. However, profile these cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) not well studied. Objectives To examine epigenetic abnormalities a wide range SCCs. Methods We investigated status 11 candidate (CDH1, p16INK4a, p14ARF, DAPK1, MGMT, RB1, RASSF1, p15INK4b, PTEN, PRDM2 and p53) 20 cases SCC by methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction, comparatively examined...
Summary p53 is the central member of a critical tumor suppressor pathway in virtually all types, where it silenced mainly by missense mutations. In melanoma, predominantly remains wild type, thus its role has been neglected. To study effect on melanocyte function and melanomagenesis, we crossed ‘high‐p53’ Mdm4 +/− mouse to well‐established TP‐ras 0/+ murine melanoma progression model. After treatment with carcinogen dimethylbenzanthracene (DMBA), mice background developed fewer tumors delay...
Abstract Genital B owen disease ( BD ) has been linked to the high‐risk types of human papillomavirus HPV infection. Recently, it recognized that also can be associated with extragenital . oncoproteins E 6 and 7 interfere function p53 p R b, respectively, leading carcinogenesis. p16 INK 4a overexpression induced by inactivation b is as a surrogate marker for ‐associated cervical cancer. In this study, we examined presence DNA in 142 lesions polymerase chain reaction PCR ), determined type...
The influence of repeated insulin injection on subcutaneous tissue is known, but its impact the skin unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to elucidate injections skin. The properties and were evaluated in 52 insulin-treated adult patients with diabetes abnormal findings at site self-injection (36 nodules, 16 suspected induration) by ultrasonography. In all subjects, both normal areas examined. addition, biopsies performed four subjects. The thickness sites was 1.95 (1.60, 2.50) 2.80 (2.27,...
Several conservative as well surgical methods are used for the treatment of ingrown toenails until date. The either based on nail splinting or orthonyxia, but no employing both principles have been reported thus far. Moreover, usually involve postoperative pain, prolonged wound healing and restricted activities daily living. Therefore, considering need a simplified, non-invasive method, in this study, we applied novel splint to treat patients with estimated clinical efficacy rate recurrence...
We report a case of Bowen's disease on the sole presenting clinically as an exophytic, blackish-grey, verrucous tumour, and showing human papillomavirus (HPV) type 16 analysis with polymerase chain reaction. Positive stains for HPV particles by immunohistochemical were limited to several cell nuclei at upper stratum Malpighii. However, all tumour cells in epidermis exhibited strong diffuse nuclear cytoplasmic suppressor protein p16INK4a. speculate that dysregulation retinoblastoma/p16INK4a...
Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their receptors (FGFRs) control a wide range of biological functions; however, involvement in the pathogenesis dermatofibroma (DF) dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is currently unknown. In this study, we first confirmed histological diagnosis by detecting fusion COL1A1-PDGFB transcripts DFSP, examined expression all FGFRs (FGFR1-4), some ligands (FGF1, 2, 9), forkhead box N1 (FOXN1) as downstream target FGFR3 DF DFSP immunohistochemical analysis....
Background. Verrucous carcinoma (VC) is a low-grade, well-differentiated squamous cell of the skin or mucosae, and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection has been considered to be one causative factors VC at three main sites, including oral cavity, genitoanal region, foot. However, relationship between cutaneous other sites HPV remains obscure. Objective. We describe rare case originating in burn scar on scalp our attempt find lesion. Methods. investigated presence by polymerase chain...

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a well‐known risk factor for many human cancers, especially cervical cancers. Among the nonmelanoma skin Bowen disease (BD) of genitalia and fingers has also been shown to be closely associated with high‐risk types HPV, HPV16. We report case BD palm, which very rare location BD. In addition its location, HPV52, classified as mucous HPV type, was detected in lesion by PCR restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis. To our knowledge, this first reported HPV52.

Cutaneous malignant melanoma has a poor prognosis. The detrimental effect of incisional biopsies on the outcome been debated. aim this study was to determine presence and type biopsy prognosis melanoma. The medical records 109 patients treated at Tokushima University Hospital from 1983 2007 were reviewed. After excluding 28 cases with stage 0 disease or incomplete data, 81 analyzed in detail respect patient sex, age, tumor site, clinical diagnosis, ulceration lymph node metastasis, five-year...
