これまで合成されていない単環の4-チアゾロン型のメソイオン化合物を合成する目的で,N-置換チオアミドとα-ハロゲンカルボン酸との反応を試みた。著者らはチオベンズアニリドとプロム酢酸をベンゼン中で加熱して得られる物質はさきにHolmbergにより報告された水酸化チアゾリウム誘導体ではなく,ベンゾイルチオグリコール酸アニリドであることを赤外吸収スペクトルと混融から明らかにした。つぎにトリエチルアミンの存在下で両一者を加熱して得られた中間体のカルボキシメチルチオ誘導体に無水酢酸を作用させると閉環が起り,分析値,赤外吸収スペクトル,性質,反応からメソイオン化合物であると思われる新化合物の得られることを見いだした。さらに他のN-置換チオアミドとハロゲンカルボン酸との反応からも同様な化合物が得られた。
