Abstract Although tetraarsenic hexoxide is known to exert an anti-tumor effect by inducing apoptosis in various cancer cells, its on other forms of regulated cell death remains unclear. Here, we show that induces the pyroptotic through activation mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated caspase-3/gasdermin E (GSDME) pathway, thereby suppressing tumor growth and metastasis triple-negative breast (TNBC) cells. Interestingly, hexoxide-treated TNBC cells exhibited specific...

Scope Brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a neurotrophin that supports the survival of existing neurons and encourages growth differentiation new synapses. We investigated effect sulforaphane, hydrolysis product glucoraphanin present in Brassica vegetables, on neuronal BDNF expression its synaptic signaling pathways. Methods results Mouse primary cortical triple‐transgenic mouse model Alzheimer's disease (3 × Tg‐AD) were used to study sulforaphane. Sulforaphane enhanced increased...

Scope Sulforaphane is an herbal isothiocyanate enriched in cruciferous vegetables. Here, the authors investigate whether sulforaphane modulates production of amyloid‐β (Aβ) and tau, two main pathological factors Alzheimer's disease (AD). Methods results A triple transgenic mouse model AD (3 × Tg‐AD) used to study effect sulforaphane. Oral gavage reduces protein levels monomeric polymeric forms Aβ as well tau phosphorylated 3 Tg‐AD mice. However, treatment do not affect mRNA expression...

Abstract The transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) protein is a pain that elicits hot sensation when an organism eats the capsaicin of red chili peppers. This calcium (Ca2+)-permeable cation channel mostly expressed in peripheral nervous system sensory neurons but also central (e.g. hippocampus and cortex). Preclinical studies found TRPV1 mediates behaviors associated with anxiety depression. Loss functionality increases expression genes related to synaptic plasticity...

Ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) has been used as a traditional herb in the treatment of many medical disorders. Ginsenosides, which are triterpene derivatives that contain sugar moieties, main pharmacological ingredients ginseng. This study was designed to investigate effect ginsenoside Rg3-enriched extract (Rg3GE) on scopolamine-induced memory impairment mice. Rg3GE (50 and 100 mg/kg) were administered C57BL/6 mice by oral gavage for 14 days (days 1–14). Memory induced scopolamine (1...

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, and pain relief with opioid-like drugs a commonly used therapeutic for osteoarthritic patients. Recent studies published by our group showed that kappa opioid receptor (KOR) highly expressed during human development in joint-forming cells. However, precise role this skeletal system remains elusive. The main aim current study was to investigate KOR signaling synovial cartilaginous tissues pathological conditions. Our data demonstrate null...
