One of the purposes this work is to provide a crystallographic review group 1 and thallium rare-earth ternary sulfides M(+)Ln(3+)S2. We have therefore determined crystal structures KLaS2, KPrS2, KEuS2, KGdS2, KLuS2, KYS2, RbYS2, which belong α-NaFeO2 structural family (R3m), as well NaLaS2, derived from disordered NaCl type (Fm3m). The were compared with known members thallium(I) by standard tools crystal-chemical analysis such comparison bond-valences, interatomic distances unit-cell...
Eu-doped ternary sulfides of general formula ALnS2 (A = Na, K, Rb; Ln La, Gd, Lu, Y) are presented as a novel interesting material family which may find usage X-ray phosphors or solid state white light emitting diode (LED) lighting. Samples were synthesized in the form transparent crystalline hexagonal platelets by chemical reaction under flow hydrogen sulfide. Their physical properties investigated means diffraction, time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic...
A set of Eu-doped Y3Al5O12 (YAG) phosphors in the powder form was successfully synthesized by multiple-step solid-state reaction under reducing Ar:5%H2 atmosphere. Their physical properties were investigated means X-ray diffraction, time-resolved luminescence spectroscopy, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). Special attention given to well-grounded confirmation Eu2+ occurrence YAG structure. diffraction confirmed presence a major phase all samples. The influence Eu concentration,...
The title structures of KScS2 (potassium scandium sulfide), RbScS2 (rubidium sulfide) and KLnS2 [Ln = Nd neodymium sufide), Sm samarium Tb terbium Dy dysprosium Ho holmium Er erbium Tm thulium Yb ytterbium sulfide)] are either newly determined (KScS2, KTbS2) or redetermined. All them belong to the α-NaFeO2 structure type in agreement with ratio ionic radii r(3+)/r(+). KScS2, member this structural family smallest trivalent cation, is an extreme representative these rare earth cations....
Abstract Rare‐earth (RE = Ce, Pr, Sm, Tb) doped ternary sulfides of the general formula RbLu 0.99 RE 0.01 S 2 and undoped RbLuS were synthesized in form crystalline hexagonal platelets by chemical reaction electric resistance furnace under flow hydrogen sulfide. Only a single phase rhombohedral lattice system (space group $ {\rm R}\bar 3{\rm m}) was detected X‐ray powder diffraction. Absorption luminescence characteristics measured. The band edge is found at 310 nm, characteristic Pr 3+ , Sm...
Detail spectroscopy study of erbium-doped active media is crucial for understanding the behavior erbium-based lasers. In this paper, first time, detailed concentration dependence Er3+ in garnet-based presented. Wide range novel samples Er:GGAG (26 total) with various (0.5–38 at%), were investigated time. The complete (absorption and emission cross-section, Raman, mid- far-infrared transmission spectra, decay times at 4I11∕2 4I13∕2) together Judd-Ofelt analysis laser characteristics measured...
For the first time Lu$_2$S$_3$ (undoped and Pr-doped) single crystals were successfully grown from melt using micro-pulling-down (mPD) technique. Customization of halide mPD apparatus allowed us to grow rod-shaped (\O 2 mm length around 20 mm) with high melting temperature (~1750 $^\circ$C). X-ray powder diffraction revealed that exhibit {\epsilon}-Lu$_2$S$_3$ crystal structure ($\alpha$-Al$_2$O$_3$ type, space group R-3c). Optical scintillation properties both undoped Pr$^{3+}$ doped...
The title structures NaGdS2 (sodium gadolinium sulfide), NaLuS2 lutetium sulfide) and NaYS2 yttrium were redetermined in order to improve the structural information available for family of group 1 thallium rare earth sulfides, which are isostructural with rhombohedral α-NaFeO2 structure type. In particular, present investigation has been directed at sodium sulfides. observed dependence fractional coordinate z(S(2-)) on identity element newly determined is agreement known potassium rubidium...
The photoluminescence of a Ce-doped LaAlO 3 single crystal is not related to the material itself, but Al-rich micro-inclusions, which demonstrated by matching their cathodoluminescence spectrum with crystal.

In this Letter, for the first time, to best of our knowledge, a pulse and CW laser based on an Er-doped Gd3Ga2.7Al2.3O12 (Er:GGAG) active medium emitting radiation at 2.8 μm are presented. With longitudinal diode pumping, maximal output energy 4.9 mJ slope efficiency 13.5% in regime were reached. Using birefringent MgF2 plate, line tunability Er:GGAG several spectral bands 2800-2822 nm, 2829-2891 2917-2942 nm obtained.
Electron paramagnetic resonance and luminescence spectroscopies were applied to study the incorporation charge stability of Eu2+ luminescent ions in single crystals KLuS2:Eu found an earlier optical [Jary et al., Chem. Phys. Lett. 574, 61 (2013)]. The location structure was unambiguously determined three different centers identified described. Two these correspond substitution for K+ Lu3+ providing thus effective mechanism due self-compensation lattice. observed spectra are consistent with...
