Objectives Favourable results for collarless polished tapered stems have been reported, and cement creep due to taper slip may be a contributing factor. However, the ideal thickness around remains unknown. We investigated influence of on stem subsidence creep. Methods cemented six (CPT) (two each small, medium large sizes) into composite femurs that had reamed with CPT rasp achieve various thicknesses mantle. Two or three tantalum balls were implanted in proximal femur. A cyclic loading test...

Objective Cement thickness of at least 2 mm is generally associated with more favorable results for the femoral component in cemented hip arthroplasty. However, French-designed stems have shown outcomes even thin cement mantle. The biomechanical behaviors a French stem, Charnley-Marcel-Kerboull (CMK) and were researched this study. Methods Six polished CMK implanted into composite femur, one million times dynamic loading tests performed. Stem subsidence compressive force bone-cement...

Abstract Background and Aim: Primary sclerosing cholangitis is frequently complicated by inflammatory bowel disease. Although many colitis models have been reported, little information has obtained about cholangitis. The aim of the present study was to determine whether hepatobiliary disorders occur in mice experimental colitis, clarify underlying mechanisms. Methods: CD‐1 were fed standard chow with or without dextran sulfate sodium drinking water, followed histological examination liver...

Fibrates are commonly used lipid-lowering agents that act via PPARalpha, a member of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. The mechanism(s) fibrate-induced changes in hepatic canalicular membrane and bile lipids still unknown. Therefore, aim this study was to investigate influence fibrates on lipid metabolism assess hepatocellular cytoprotective effect hepatocyte membrane. Male ICR mice were fed standard chow with or without bezafibrate (100 mg/kg) for 6 days. expression transporters...

Multidrug resistance-associated protein 3 (MRP3) is a basolaterally localized transporter in the liver and contributes to transport of various metabolites such as conjugates endogenous compounds drugs from hepatocytes. MRP3 expression human low under normal physiologic conditions but induced by drug treatment. Although several studies have identified region necessary for basal transcription MRP3, no that responds has been reported. To identify xenobiotic-responsive elements we constructed...

Abstract Background: Absorption of water, as well emptying bile, are important functions the gallbladder. We studied changes gallbladder function with age in gallstone patients and their influence on outcome extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL). Methods: (i) A total 123 consecutive complete stone clearance by ESWL were examined. Gallbladder was assessed before treatment using intravenous cholecystography. After clearance, recurrence gallstones monitored ultrasonography. Cox regression...

We attempted to clarify the severity of risk diabetes mellitus (DM) in individuals who repeatedly fulfill criteria for prediabetes both fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c). The subjects were 2347 underwent annual health checkup at our hospital. They classified as normal tolerance or their yearly status three years; furthermore, subclassified into 3 groups. Among them, we focused fulfilled FPG HbA1c, this group was named PD3. Similarly, all categorized 4 groups by...

The effectiveness of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, atorvastatin, was studied in patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Twenty five (nineteen had hypercholesterolemia at the start treatment) biopsyproven NASH were treated atorvastatin (10 mg/d) for 48 weeks. BMI did not change during treatment period. Significant improvements observed blood markers hepatic fibrosis, liver densities and adipocytokine levels an improvement serum aminotransferase level. No side effect noted any time...
