Importance
In adults undergoing hip fracture surgery, regional anesthesia may reduce postoperative delirium, but there is uncertainty about its effectiveness.
Objective
To investigate, in older surgical repair for fracture, the effects of on incidence delirium compared with general anesthesia.
Design, Setting, and Participants
A randomized, allocation-concealed, open-label, multicenter clinical trial 950 patients, aged 65 years older, or without preexisting...
To determine whether beta-adrenergic agonist therapy increases alveolar liquid clearance during the resolution phase of hydrostatic pulmonary edema, we studied and lung in two animal models edema. Hydrostatic edema was induced sheep by acutely elevating left atrial pressure to 25 cmH(2)O instilling 6 ml/kg body wt isotonic 5% albumin (prepared from bovine albumin) normal saline into distal air spaces each lung. After 1 h, were treated with a nebulized beta-agonist (salmeterol) or (controls),...
Coalbed methane (CBM) is one of the crucial energy sources in China. The swelling clay mineral components coal can lead to wellbore instability and reduced permeability, posing challenges during drilling operations. To address these issues, analyzing detecting selecting inhibitors for fluids that suppress hydration minerals are vital. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis employed determine composition samples, providing data reservoir evaluation. Furthermore, experiments conducted select optimal...
The in vivo effect of 48-h glucocorticoid and thyroid hormone 3,3′,5-triiodine-l-thyronine (T 3 ) pretreatment on alveolar epithelial fluid transport was studied adult rats. An isosmolar 5% albumin solution instilled, clearance for 1 h. Compared with controls, dexamethasone increased by 80%. T stimulated 65%, had additive effects (132%). Propranolol did not inhibit either group, indicating that stimulation secondary to endogenous β-adrenergic stimulation. With the use bromodeoxyuridine...
Pulmonary edema is common in organ donors and lung transplant recipients. Therefore, we assessed the responsiveness of human donor lungs to pharmacological agents that stimulate clearance alveolar edema. Organ whose were rejected for transplantation studied. After resection, transport (4°C), rewarming (37°C) lungs, fluid was measured with ( n = 8 donors) or without 23 β-adrenergic stimulation. Terbutaline-stimulated (10 −4 M) higher than unstimulated (7.1 ± 1.3 vs. 4.8 2.4%/h, P < 0.01)....
Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) infection is associated with several human diseases that involve unrestricted proliferation of B lymphocytes. EBV nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA-1) expressed in all EBV-infected cells and plays an essential role persistence the genome. EBNA-1 has also been reported to have oncogenic potential. As approach for treating infections, we examined capacity ribozymes delivered by recombinant adenoviruses suppress expression block virus-induced cell proliferation. In contrast...
Objective. The Dutch proton robustness evaluation protocol prescribes the dose of clinical target volume (CTV) to voxel-wise minimum (VWmin) 28 scenarios. This results in a consistent but conservative near-minimum CTV (D98%,CTV). In this study, we analyzed (i) correlation between VWmin/voxel-wise maximum (VWmax) metrics and actually delivered organs at risk (OARs) under impact treatment errors, (ii) performance before after its calibration with adequate prescription-dose levels.Approach....
In this paper, we develop a server-client quantization scheme to reduce bit resolution of deep learning architecture, i.e., Convolutional Neural Networks, for image recognition tasks. Low is an important factor in bringing the neural network into hardware implementation, which directly determines cost and power consumption. We aim without sacrificing its performance. To end, design new algorithm called supervised iterative learned weights. training stage, conducted via two steps on server –...
ABSTRACT In response to the severe problem of coal powder production in Panhe block coalbed methane wells southern Qinshui Basin, characteristics study area were identified through sample testing, indoor experiments, and theoretical calculations. The settling velocity with different mesh sizes was clarified, a correction factor α proposed for experimental results velocity. research indicate that concentration ranges from 0.03 7.14 g/L, an average 1.26 g/L. particle size produced 4.10–237.64...
Cervical vertigo refers to a clinical syndrome with sudden as the main symptom caused by hemodynamic disturbance of extracranial segment vertebral artery (VA) affected cervical lesions. Small differences in pulse intervals patient's continuous sinus rhythm are called heart rate variability (HRV). Heart small rise and fall instantaneous between consecutive beats is one most important physiological indicators cardiac function. changes successive reflect some information about heart. So, it can...
We study a kind of randomized dynamic load-balancing scheme, which, upon new task arrival, selects some constant d (d /spl ges/ 2) servers out n in an independently and uniformly fashion places the newly arrived to least-loaded one among choices. To overcome weakness previous results when they are used real settings, we propose improved algorithm. add sliding-window technique original concept Mitzenmacher's (1996) two choices = load-balancing. prove that our algorithm converges equilibrium...
Abstract Introduction: Kawasaki disease (KD) is a systemic inflammatory disease. Standard imaging features of KD include interstitial and lobular lesions in the lungs, while shock syndrome (KDSS), complicated with substantial consolidation atelectasis lung, rarely reported. Patients concerns: Herein, we report single case 5-year-old female patient who manifested KDSS on seventh day course KD. Chest enhanced computed tomography indicated large-area lower lobes bilateral lungs. Diagnosis: The...
Objective. The study aimed to explore the application of ultrasound image-guided general drug anesthesia combined with lumbar and sacral plexus block based on MATrix LABoratory (MATLAB) algorithm in hip arthroplasty its clinical effect. Methods. classic geodesic active contour (GAC) improved fuzzy clustering level set were used segment images waist plexus, then their segmentation effects compared. Both algorithms are from platform. A total 60 patients undergoing selected randomly enrolled...
Protecting the inferior alveolar nerve is one of most important goals in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Clinically, lower lip numbness complication surgery procedures mandible that can result from damage, including odontogenic keratocyst removal The present case involved a huge intra-bony lesion right mandibular area, where modified technique was utilized to protect nerve. No symptoms or signs were observed for 6 months follow up post-surgery.
Mandibular defects requiring reconstruction are commonly encountered in clinical settings and can be caused by resection of benign or malignant lesions, osteonecrosis, trauma, nonunion the bone after treatment a mandibular fracture. A severe compound comminuted fracture mandible shows tendency for surgical treatment. defect reconstructed using several methods including plate, nonvascularized autogenous graft, vascularized graft. We report case patient with trauma resulting from mandible, was...
Bisphosphonate (BP)-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) occurs when an uncovered area jawbone in oromaxillary region has not healed within 8 weeks. Patients who have previously undergone radiation therapy craniofacial but received BP therapy. BRONJ is believed to be caused by trauma dentoalveolar structures, which a limited capacity for bone healing because effects typically manifests as incomplete extraction socket, exposed bone, sequestrum, and fistula tract formation involving...
Odontogenic infections often occur with dental caries and periodontal disease commonly have local systemic implications. Diagnosing a nonodontogenic orofacial infection related to an odontogenic is difficult. Both may extend potential fascial spaces in the area or deep head neck. The latter complication life threatening. Here, we report case which 54-year-old male diabetes mellitus (DM) had painful swelling of right cheek. No source was found after oral examination. Cellulitis diagnosed,...
