Here, we present a large (n = 107,207) genome-wide association study (GWAS) of general cognitive ability ("g"), further enhanced by combining results with large-scale GWAS educational attainment. We identified 70 independent genomic loci associated ability. Results showed significant enrichment for genes causing Mendelian disorders an intellectual disability phenotype. Competitive pathway analysis implicated the biological processes neurogenesis and synaptic regulation, as well gene targets...

We investigated the existence of a temporal association between age at initiation cannabis use and onset psychotic illness in 997 participants from 2010 Survey High Impact Psychosis (SHIP) Australia. tested for group differences duration premorbid exposure to (DPEC). Analyses were repeated subgroups with schizophrenia-spectrum disorder (SSD), diagnosis lifetime dependence (LCD), comorbid SSD/LCD diagnosis. In 2019, the WPA set up an Expert International Advisory Panel for Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), as part of a presidential initiative1 linked to Action Plan 2020-20232-4. Here we present update on recent activities related that initiative. Abstract The tryptophan-metabolizing kynurenine pathway (KP) can be activated by enhanced inflammatory responses and has been implicated in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. However, there is little evidence for KP dysregulation early course psychotic illness. We aimed to investigate potential immune-mediated hyperactivity individuals with first-episode psychosis (FEP) relationship symptom severity treatment response outcomes. Serum immunoassays were performed measure peripheral levels...

Background: Schizotypal traits are notably prevalent among children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Both conditions commonly exhibit impairments in executive functions (EF), which encompass "cool" and "hot" processes. The observed deficits these EF domains across ASD schizotypy underscore a compelling need to investigate how their co-occurrence impacts EF. Methods: This study investigated the impact of co-occurring autistic schizotypal on 63...

Methods: The 63 (6-12 years old) High Functioning were measured by Melbourne Assessment Schizotypy Kids (MASK). Parents teachers participating completed Child...

Abstract Broad-based cognitive deficits are an enduring and disabling symptom for many patients with severe mental illness, these impairments inadequately addressed by current medications. While novel drug targets schizophrenia depression have emerged from recent large-scale genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of psychiatric disorders, GWAS general ability can suggest potential nootropic repurposing. Here, we (1) meta-analyze results two to further enhance power locus discovery; (2)...
