Introduction: Hyperprolactinemia has been implicated in the pathogenesis of obesity and glucose intolerance is reportedly associated with an impaired metabolic profile. The current study aimed at investigating effects 12- 60-month treatment cabergoline (CAB) on syndrome (MetS) patients prolactinomas. Patients Methods: 61 prolactinomas (13 men, 48 women, 41 microadenoma, 20 macroadenoma), aged 34.4 ± 10.3 years,...

Adrenal insufficiency (AI) requires lifelong glucocorticoid (GC) replacement. Conventional therapies do not mimic the endogenous cortisol circadian rhythm. Clock genes are essential components of machinery controlling functions and influenced by GCs. However, clock gene expression has never been investigated in patients with AI.To evaluate effect timing GC administration on peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from Dual Release Hydrocortisone vs Glucocorticoid Replacement...

Abstract Selenium (Se) is an essential micronutrient modulating several physiopathological processes in the human body. The aim of study to characterize molecular effects determined by Se‐supplementation thyroid follicular cells, using as model well‐differentiated rat cell line FRTL5. Experiments have been performed evaluate Se on growth, mortality and proliferation modulation pro‐ antiapoptotic pathways. results indicate that improves FRTL5 growth rate. Furthermore, reduces proportion death...

Abstract Primary or acquired resistant mechanisms prevent the employment of individualized therapy with target drugs like mTOR inhibitor everolimus (EVE) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The current study evaluated effect 1,25(OH) 2 Vitamin D (VitD) treatment on EVE sensitivity established models HCC cell lines to (EveR). DNA content and colony formation assays, which measure proliferative index, revealed that VitD pre-treatment re-sensitizes EveR cells treatment. evaluation epithelial...

Introduction/Aim: Circadian clock disruption is emerging as a risk factor for metabolic disorders, and particularly, alterations in genes circadian expression have been shown to influence insulin sensitivity. Recently, the reciprocal interplay between machinery hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis has largely demonstrated: may control physiological endogenous glucocorticoid (GC) secretion action; GCs, turn, are potent regulators of their inappropriate...

Pasireotide is the first medical therapy officially approved for adult patients with Cushing's disease (CD) experiencing failure of pituitary surgery or not candidates surgery. The current study aimed at investigating pasireotide effects on clinical picture and metabolic profile in enrolled phase III CSOM230B2305 trial Naples center. In addition, focused safety issues encountered during study, detailing management different adverse events associated treatment Fourteen entered study; eight...

Objective Control of prolactin excess is associated with the improvement in gluco-insulinemic and lipid profile. The current study aimed at investigating effects pituitary surgery medical therapy high dose cabergoline (≥2mg/week) on metabolic profile patients prolactinoma resistant to conventional doses (<2mg/week). Design Thirty-four (22 men, 12 women, aged 33.9 ± 12.5 years) (4 microadenomas 30 macroadenomas) were included present study. Among them 17 (50%) received (PS, Group1)...

In order to clarify a possible relationship between opioid peptides and glucose homeostasis in obesity we studied Beta-Endorphin (B-Ep), ACTH, cortisol insulin plasma levels response an oral tolerance test (OGTT) 8 subjects after hypocaloric diet for 90 days. We obtained through this treatment weight loss superior 30% of the initial excess (WE) compared with ideal body weight. Moreover, results our preliminary study that was performed same protocol but without caloric restriction.

Abstract Purpose Impairment of skeletal muscle mass and strength affects 40–70% patients with active Cushing’s syndrome (CS). Glucocorticoid excess sustains atrophy weakness, while muscle-specific microRNAs (myomiRs) level changes were associated organization function perturbation. The aim the current study is to explore in circulating myomiRs CS compared healthy controls their involvement IGFI/PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway regulation muscle.
