不飽和土は三相混合体である.すなわち,土粒子実質部分(固相),間隙空気(気相),間隙水(液相)から成り立っている.本論文では,単位体積当たりの粒子数,単位体積当たりの接点数,単位面積当たりの接点数,1粒子当たりの接点数を基本物理量として粒子間力,粒子間応力を誘導し,不飽和土の保水・透気・透水・圧縮・せん断挙動を体系的に解析するための新しい不飽和土質力学の体系化を試みている.間隙水,間隙空気の挙動については,基本粒状体モデル(elementary particulates model)を提案し,統計・確率論的な考察から水分特性曲線,透水係数,透気係数を導いている.土粒子骨格構造の挙動については,粒子接点での接点角の連続的な変化にマルコフ過程,不連続な変化に消滅・発生率を適用し,粒子間応力とひずみの関係を導いている.

近年,地下水位が深い位置にある不飽和埋め戻し地盤において,飽和地盤の挙動とは異なる沈下が生じ,度々報告されている.地震動による不飽和地盤の沈下に関しては研究・報告が少なく,メカニズムも解明されていない.本研究では不飽和状態の模型地盤を作製し,振動台を用いて加速度を与え,加振前と加振後の沈下量,飽和度,乾燥密度の関係を求めている.その結果,不飽和地盤の破壊形態にクラックが生じるケースと地表面に流出水が生じるケースを確認した.そして,二つの破壊形態が分かれる条件について,境界値となる飽和度の存在を示唆している.加えてその飽和度は締固め試験や水平浸潤試験から導かれる飽和度と近い値を示すことを考察している.

A side-illuminated waveguide integrated PIN photodiode (WG PD) has been developed and modeled for use in 40 Gb/s PIN/preamp receiver module. The WG PD exhibited a wide bandwidth over GHz with high responsivity. 2013年3月,富士山麓から5合目に続く山梨県営林道滝沢線(以下,滝沢林道)の標高1950mの地点でアスファルト舗装の路面が約300mにわたって大きく陥没しているのが発見され,メディア等で大きく取り上げられた.一方,2013年6月22日,富士山は関連する文化財群とともに「富士山-信仰の対象と芸術の源泉」の名で世界文化遺産に登録されている.滝沢林道陥没の要因を明らかにし,今後の維持管理に知見を加えることが求められている.本研究では滝沢林道陥没を発生させた要因について,気象や現地調査を基に地形の影響を考察している.その結果,2013年3月18日の夕方から19日未明にかけての降雨と同時に起こった急激な気温上昇,陥没地点上部の沢からの水の供給が要因に考えられることを述べている.

排気排水条件下において繰返しせん断を受ける不飽和砂質土の体積ひずみを応力制御方式による中空ねじり繰返しせん断試験から求めた.乾燥密度及び含水比を変化させた幾つかのケースを実施した結果から,乾燥密度が小さいほど体積ひずみが大きくなること,含水比が大きいほど体積ひずみが大きくなること,これら物理特性の変動による体積ひずみの変化率はせん断応力比に応じて異なること,がわかった.乾燥密度及び含水比のばらつきを考慮した地震時地盤沈下量推定に関する信頼性解析(モンテカルロシミュレーション)を実施し,地震時地盤沈下量の損傷度曲線を算出した結果,大きな沈下量を想定した損傷度曲線ほどばらつきが大きくなることを示した.
地球温暖化等の気候変動に伴う大雨の頻度増加が指摘されるようになり,各種産業への影響等が懸念されている.特に沖縄県では,亜熱帯特有の高温多雨気候により,赤土等流出を受けやすく,農地や開発事業地等から流出する赤土等は1950年代頃から問題化しているが,未だ解決に至っていない.さらに,沖縄のみならず亜熱帯化が懸念される九州もまた浸食を受けやすい土壌を有している. 本研究では,亜熱帯地域である沖縄県国頭郡宜野座村の農地で赤土等流出実験環境を整備し,1年強行ってきた様々の適応策の赤土等流出抑制効果把握のための現地実験結果を考察している.また,農家が実施可能な適応策を選定し,その狙い等について述べている.
