Surfaces with self‐cleaning properties are desirable for many applications. Conceptually, super liquid‐repellent surfaces required to be highly porous on the nano‐ or micrometer scale, which inherently makes them mechanically weak. Optimizing balance of mechanical strength and liquid repellency is a core aspect toward However, quantitative testing porous, challenging due their high surface roughness at different length scales low stress tolerance. For this reason, often performed...

Organic alloys λ-(BETS) 2 Fe x Ga 1- Cl 4 show superconductivity only under very high magnetic fields parallel to the conducting layer for ≥0.47. As decreases, field induced superconducting phase shifts towards lower and a striking field-induced insulator superconductor transition is observed below T =0.45. We that overall features of global diagram are well understood in terms Jaccarino-Peter compensation mechanism. These results provide new road map future design superconductors.

Abstract The dynamics of hydrogen in metals with mixed grain structure is not well understood at a microscopic scale. One the biggest issues facing economy “hydrogen embrittlement” metal induced by entering and diffusing into material. Hydrogen diffusion metallic materials difficult to grasp owing non-uniform compositions structures metal. Significant effects of the long-range ``herringbone'' reconstruction on formation standing waves in Fermi-level surface-state electron density were observed for first time an Au(111)- $(23\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}\sqrt{3})$ reconstructed surface using a low-temperature scanning tunneling microscope at 30 K. Enhanced oscillation local states was observed, especially along pairwise soliton walls, which suggests possible existence anisotropic wave propagation.

Shubnikov--de Haas (SdH) oscillations have been examined for organic conductors $\ensuremath{\lambda}\ensuremath{-}(\mathrm{BETS}{)}_{2}{\mathrm{Fe}}_{x}{\mathrm{Ga}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{Cl}}_{4}$ $(x=0,$ 0.45, 0.78, and 1.0). In spite of the variety magnetic phases, no significant difference is found in Fermi surface among them. All salts similar cylindrical surfaces, whose cross-sectional areas correspond to $\ensuremath{\sim}15%$ first Brillouin zone. For $x\ensuremath{\ne}0,$ two...

Measurements of the Shubnikov--de Haas (SdH) and angular-dependent magnetoresistance oscillations were performed to study Fermi surface for a magnetic-field-induced superconductor $\ensuremath{\lambda}\ensuremath{-}(\mathrm{BETS}{)}_{2}{\mathrm{FeCl}}_{4}.$ We found two SdH ascribed minimum maximum cross-sectional areas corrugated cylindrical surface, which are estimated be $14%$ $17%$ first Brillouin zone, respectively. We have demonstrated that the process of hydrogen absorption into a solid experimentally follows Langmuir-type (hyperbolic) function instead Sieverts law. This can be explained by independent two theories. One is well-known solubility theory which basis It explains amount expressed as square root pressure. succeeded in drawing same conclusion from other theory. 2-step reaction kinetics (2sRK) model expresses bulk via adsorption on surface. The 2sRK has an advantage to theory: Since it...

We present systematic resistance measurements of mesoscopic Al disk samples with three different sizes and compare them those an Al-wire sample. When a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the disks, large excess resistance, which approximately six times larger than normal-state $({R}_{\text{n}})$, appears near critical leads connected disks. In low-field region successive resistant peaks are observed. These ascribed transitions vortex states in disk. Remarkably, some significantly...

We report the first observation of a single-vortex flow in mesoscopic superconductor. A single vortex is successfully controlled by an rf current superimposed on dc current, evidence which provided voltage steps current-voltage (I-V) characteristics. Irrespective number vortices confined to disk, we unambiguously observe that when inside disk driven out another enters similarly two balls colliding billiards: only one passes through Al at same time systems.
