Abstract Branched fatty acid (FA) esters of hydroxy FAs (HFAs; FAHFAs) are recently discovered lipids that conserved from yeast to mammals 1,2 . A subfamily, palmitic stearic acids (PAHSAs), anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic 1,3 Humans mice with insulin resistance have lower PAHSA levels in subcutaneous adipose tissue serum 1 administration improves glucose tolerance sensitivity reduces inflammation obesity, diabetes immune-mediated diseases 1,4–7 The enzyme(s) responsible for FAHFA...

Background & AimsNonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common form of chronic disease. Insulin resistance (IR) appears to be critical in its pathogenesis. We evaluated effects sodium butyrate (butyrate) and synthetic derivative N-(1-carbamoyl-2-phenyl-ethyl) butyramide (FBA) a rat model insulin steatosis induced by high-fat diet (HFD). MethodsAfter weaning, young male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups receiving different diets for 6 weeks: 1. control group...

Butyrate has shown benefits in inflammatory bowel diseases. However, it is not often administered orally because of its rancid smell and unpleasant taste. The efficacy a more palatable butyrate-releasing derivative, N-(1-carbamoyl-2-phenylethyl) butyramide (FBA), was evaluated mouse model colitis induced by dextran sodium sulphate (DSS).

Palmitic acid esters of hydroxy stearic acids (PAHSAs) are bioactive lipids with antiinflammatory and antidiabetic effects. PAHSAs reduce ambient glycemia improve glucose tolerance insulin sensitivity in insulin-resistant aged chow- high-fat diet–fed (HFD-fed) mice. Here, we aimed to determine the mechanisms by which sensitivity. Both acute chronic PAHSA treatment enhanced action suppress endogenous production (EGP) HFD-fed Moreover, augmented insulin-stimulated uptake glycolytic muscle...

Obesity-induced inflammation causes metabolic dysfunction, but the mechanisms remain elusive. Here we show that innate immune transcription factor interferon regulatory (IRF3) adversely affects glucose homeostasis through induction of endogenous FAHFA hydrolase androgen induced gene 1 (AIG1) in adipocytes. Adipocyte-specific knockout IRF3 protects male mice against high-fat diet-induced insulin resistance, whereas overexpression or AIG1 adipocytes promotes resistance on a diet. Furthermore,...

Abstract Objective To compare the initial surgical outcomes of robotic and laparoscopic myomectomy in patients with symptomatic uterine myomas. Study Design Retrospective chart review 86 undergoing (RM) (n = 43) or (LM) myomectomy. Data included fibroid characteristics (number, weight, location) layers reconstruction, operating time, blood loss, complications, postoperative hospital stay. Results No significant differences were noted between RM LM for number weight mean although receiving at...

Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) regulates many pathophysiological processes in the central nervous system, including pain perception, convulsions and neurotoxicity, increasing evidence points to its neuroprotective action. In present study, we report that PEA, acting as a ligand of peroxisome-proliferator activated receptor (PPAR)-α, might regulate neurosteroidogenesis astrocytes, which, similar other glial cells neurones, have enzymatic machinery for neurosteroid de novo synthesis. Accordingly,...

Objectives Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic joint disease, characterized by progressive loss of articular cartilage. During OA, proinflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin IL-1, induce the expression matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in chondrocytes, contributing thus to extracellular (ECM) degradation. Members Serpine family, including plasminogen activator inhibitors have been reported participate ECM regulation. The aim this study was assess serpin peptidase inhibitor clade E member 2...

Nitric oxide (NO) has been considered a catabolic factor that contributes to OA pathology by inducing chondrocytes apoptosis, matrix metalloproteinases synthesis, and pro-inflammatory cytokines expression. Thus, the research on NO regulation in represents relevant field which needs be explored depth. However, date, only murine ATDC-5 cell line primary are well-established cells study production cartilage tissues. The goal of this is determine whether two commonly used human chondrocytic...
