The authors followed 5,437 people aged 55 years and older with normal baseline Mini-Mental State Examination score annually for 5 years. mean incidence of cognitive impairment was 2.3% per year. Cognitive activities in both the individual item (playing board games reading) composite measure were associated reduced risk impairment, while watching television an increased impairment.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a primary malignancy of the liver and occurs predominantly in patients with underlying chronic disease cirrhosis. HCC now third leading cause cancer deaths worldwide, over 500,000 people affected. However, there no complete effective (ideal) treatment for yet, new methods are expected to be discovered. Herein, first time, we report anti-HCC effects copper-cysteamine nanoparticles (Cu-Cy NPs), type photosensitizers. An vitro 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-...

Abstract Background The response of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) to transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) treatment and its underlying mechanisms remain elusive. This study investigates the role enzymes involved in fatty acid activation, specifically Acyl-CoA synthetase long chain 4 (ACSL4), HCC patients treated with postoperative adjuvant TACE (PA-TACE) nutrient-deprived cells. Methods We examined expression ACSL4 family members clinical samples cell lines. significance ACSL4,...

Abstract Exosomes derived from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells are nanovesicles and involved in the occurrence development of HCC, they also serve as important carriers drug targets nanodrug delivery systems. The external shape internal structure exosomes indexes identification, isolated intact morphology is crucial to biological function integrity. However, given their susceptibility various influencing factors, HCC remain incompletely studied. In this study, purified were at different...

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide, with a dismal 5-year survival rate less than 15%. The present study aimed to investigate whether AKT inhibition and glucose deprivation could synergistically kill HCC cells molecular mechanisms involved. were starved in deprivation, then resultant cell was determined by flow cytometry mitochondrial oxygen consumption rates using Seahorse XF-24 Extracellular Flux Analyzer.
