Twenty-one patients with multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa pneumonia were treated nebulized polymyxin E (colistin). Overall clinical microbiological response rates 57.1% 85.7%, respectively. Nebulized colistin may be reasonably efficacious safe for treatment of MDR pneumonia. Its role in therapy warrants further investigation comparative studies.

Abstract Background Frailty is the pre‐eminent exigency of aging. Although frailty‐related impairments are preventable, and multidomain interventions appear more effective than unimodal ones, optimal components remain uncertain. Methods We devised against physical cognitive decline among prefrail/frail community‐dwelling ≥65‐year‐olds evaluated these in complementary cluster‐randomized trials efficacy participant empowerment. The Efficacy Study compared ~3‐monthly telephone consultations vs....

Integrating primary prevention into care pathways for older adults is a core strategy of healthy ageing, but evidence remains limited. We aimed to determine whether incorporating multidomain intervention health could improve standard value-based outcomes and quality life. For this Taiwan Integrated Geriatric Care (TIGER) study, pragmatic randomised controlled trial, we recruited community-dwelling outpatients aged 65 years or with at least three chronic medical conditions. excluded people...

The definition of cognitive frailty and its prediction for adverse outcome community-living older adults remains controversial. This study aims to evaluate the association between all-cause mortality among adults. Data I-Lan Longitudinal Aging Study (ILAS) were retrieved study. Frailty was defined by Fried's criteria, a series neuropsychological assessments, including Mini-Mental State Examination, Center Epidemiology Studies-Depression, delayed free recall in Chinese Version Verbal Learning...

Background Cognitive frailty (CF) featured as plus cognitive impairment was deemed to be a novel target for dementia and disable prevention. The study intended investigate the epidemiology of CF association between all-cause mortality. Methods national representative cohort comprised 1,103 community-living middle-aged older adults. defined co-existence dynapenia (weakness and/or slowness) (1.5 standard deviations below age-, sex- education-matched norms in tests) without known...

The existence of intrinsic capacity (IC) subtypes and their distinct impacts on age-related outcomes remain unexplored. This study sought to investigate IC impairment trajectories across domains associations with the risk outcomes, including falls, functional limitations, reduced quality life (QoL) mortality at 4- 8-year follow-ups. sample comprised 1,782 older adults residing in community from Taiwan Longitudinal Study Ageing (TLSA). Utilizing group-based multitrajectory modeling, decline...

Abstract Background Heart failure (HF) is a critical complication in elderly patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and diabetes mellitus (DM). Recent preclinical studies suggested that non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) can potentially suppress the progression of cardiac fibrosis ischemic cardiomyopathy. Whether different influence risk HF older adults AF DM unknown. This study aimed to evaluate who were administered NOACs or warfarin. Methods A nationwide retrospective...

This study aimed to explore the biological features and mortality risk of intrinsic capacity (IC) functional ability (FA). Based on data from 1839 participants I-Lan Longitudinal Aging Study, multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were used evaluate predictive IC (range 0–100) FA 10-year mortality. To evaluate the fracture risk among patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) treated non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) or warfarin. We conducted a real-world nationwide retrospective cohort study using Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database. All adult in Taiwan newly diagnosed AF between 2012 and 2016 who received NOACs warfarin were enrolled followed up until 2017.
