One-hundred and thirty confirmed cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) were recruited to evaluate their anti-SARS-coronavirus (CoV) antibody status human leukocyte antigen (HLA) types in September 2006, 3 y after the SARS outbreaks Taiwan. Western blot assay showed that 6.9% participants still had anti-spike anti-nucleocapside antibodies. A case-control study association HLA with revealed HLA-Cw1502 DR0301 alleles conferred resistance against infection (p<0.05).
Galectin-3 has been reported to regulate the functions of a number immune cell types. We previously that galectin-3 is translocated immunological synapses in T cells upon T-cell receptor engagement, where it associates with ALG-2-interacting protein X (Alix). Alix known coordinate endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) promote human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 virion release. hypothesized plays role HIV-1 viral budding. Cotransfection Jurkat line and plasmids resulted...
The swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus (S-OIV) has come to the forefront since 2009 and was identified as a new reassortant strain. hemagglutinin (HA) glycoprotein mediates binding, contains antigenic regions recognized by neutralizing antibodies, is associated with viral cross-species infection adaption. comparison study of codon usage preferences in genomes less extensive. In this study, we used pattern analyses validate adaption origins S-OIV.Codon estimate host S-OIVs. Phylogenetic...
Enhanced sebocyte proliferation is associated with the pathogenesis of human skin diseases related to sebaceous gland hyperfunction and androgens, which are known induce proliferation, key mediators this process. Galectin-12, a member β-galactoside-binding lectin family that preferentially expressed by adipocytes functions as an intrinsic negative regulator lipolysis, has been shown be sebocytes. In study, we identified galectin-12 important intracellular proliferation. Galectin-12 knockdown...
Abstract Galectin-3 (GAL3) is a β-galactoside-binding lectin expressed in CD4 T cells infected with human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1). GAL3 promotes HIV-1 budding by associating ALIX and Gag p6. has been shown to localize membrane lipid rafts dendritic positively regulate cell migration. spreads between forming supramolecular structures (virological synapses [VSs]), whose integrity depends on rafts. Here, we addressed the potential role of cell-to-cell transmission cells. donor was more...
Abstract Galectin-3 (Gal3), a β-galactoside-binding lectin, has been reported to regulate the functions of number immune cell types. We demonstrated that Gal3 is translocated immunological synapse in T cells upon receptors engagement and associated with ALG-2-interacting protein X (Alix). Alix known coordinate endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) promote HIV-1 virion release through binding Gag-P6 protein. hypothesized plays role viral budding. Co-transfection plasmids...
