There is evidence showing that men and women differ with regard to the processing of emotional information. However, mechanisms behind these differences are not fully understood. The sample comprised 275 (167 female) right-handed, healthy participants, recruited from community. We employed a customized affective priming task, which consisted three subtests, differing in modality prime (face, written word, sound). The targets were always words either positive or negative valence. effect was...

Huntington disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disorder due to an excessive number of CAG repeats in the IT15 gene on chromosome 4. Studies cognitive function asymptomatic carriers have yielded contradictory results. This study compared performance 44 subjects with HD mutation (group carriers) who had no clinical signs and 39 at-risk individuals without non-carriers). Neuropsychological evaluation focused global efficiency, psychomotor speed, attentional, executive memory functions....

Imaging genetic studies showed exaggerated blood oxygenation level-dependent response in limbic structures carriers of low activity alleles serotonin transporter-linked promoter region (5-HTTLPR) as well catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT) genes. This was suggested to underlie the vulnerability mood disorders. To better understand mechanisms vulnerability, it is important investigate modulation frontal-limbic connectivity that underlies emotional regulation and control. In this study, we...
