Carotenoids are critically important to plants and humans. The ORANGE (OR) gene is a key regulator for carotenoid accumulation, but its physiological roles in crops remain elusive. In this study, we generated transgenic tomato ectopically overexpressing the Arabidopsis wild-type OR (AtORWT ) 'golden SNP'-containing (AtORHis ). We found that AtORHis initiated chromoplast formation very young fruit stimulated accumulation at all developmental stages, uncoupled from other ripening activities....

The TenA protein family occurs in prokaryotes, plants and fungi; it has two subfamilies, one (TenA_C) having an active-site cysteine, the other (TenA_E) not. TenA_C proteins participate thiamin salvage by hydrolysing breakdown product amino-HMP (4-amino-5-aminomethyl-2-methylpyrimidine) to HMP (4-amino-5-hydroxymethyl-2-methylpyrimidine); function of TenA_E is unknown. Comparative analysis prokaryote plant genomes predicted that (i) a role similar to, but not identical with, (ii) also have...

We investigated strategies to improve foreign protein accumulation in the chloroplasts of model algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and tested outcome both standard culture conditions as well one pertinent algal biofuel production. The downstream box (DB) TetC or NPTII genes, first 15 codons following start codon, was N-terminally fused coding region cel6A, an endoglucanase from Thermobifida fusca. also employed a chimeric regulatory element, consisting 16S rRNA promoter atpA 5′UTR, previously...

<title>Abstract</title> Water deficit in plants induces a complex responses array of physiological and biochemical changes aiming at mitigating the adverse effects reduced water availability. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as hydrogen peroxide accumulate under drought stress, leading to oxidative damage cellular components. To counteract this, enhance activity antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), ascorbate (APX). Drought stress Accordingly, aim this was...

AbstractBecause of water crises, the cultivation forage plants is greatly important in arid and semi-arid regions world. In order to study effect different organic fertilizers irrigation regimes on growth biochemical responses Atriplex species, this experiment was performed as a factorial split with three replications city Bandar Abbas 2017-2018. The main factor included (irrigation at 80, 60, 40% field capacity) sub-factor were sources fertilizer (poultry manure sheep about 5 tons per...

Abstract The carotenoid content of plants can be increased by overexpression the regulatory protein ORANGE (OR) or a mutant variant known as ‘golden SNP’. In present study, transgenic lines microalgae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii were generated to overexpress either wild type CrOR ( WT ) mutated His containing single histidine substitution for conserved arginine. Overexpression both and dramatically enhanced accumulation several different carotenoids, including β-cartotene, α-carotene, lutein...
