This study describes neuropsychiatric side effects in patients after treatment with mefloquine. Reactions consisted mainly of seizures, acute psychoses, anxiety neurosis, and major disturbances sleep-wake rhythm. Side occurred both therapeutic prophylactic intake were graded from moderate to severe. In a risk analysis Germany, it is estimated that one 8,000 mefloquine users suffers such reactions. The incidence calculation revealed 215 had reactions, compared 13,000 the prophylaxis group,...

ABSTRACT When given in the presence of gamma interferon (IFN-γ), otherwise nontoxic doses lipopolysaccharide (LPS or endotoxin) become highly lethal for mice. The mechanisms this synergistic toxicity are not known. We considered possibility that an interaction between LPS-induced NF-κB and IFN-γ-induced JAK-STAT pathways at pretranscriptional level may enhance signals. To test hypothesis, we incubated murine macrophage RAW 264.7 cells with IFN-γ 2 h before addition different LPS. Consistent...

Fibroblast Activation Protein (FAP)-specific Positron Emission Tomography (PET) has shown promising results in various cancers. This pilot study compares FAP-specific PET to MRI for treatment planning 13 Glioblastoma patients. The resulting incongruent volumes could provide additional information radiotherapy or biopsy planning.

Abstract Background We set out to investigate how the ongoing coronavirus pandemic affected size of tumors and duration treatment delay in patients with surgically treated oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Patients cavity carcinoma were assessed retrospectively divided into two groups depending on when they had first presented at our clinic. presenting from 2010 2019, that is, before COVID‐19 onset ( n = 566) compared 2020 58). Results A total 624 included. Treatment was significantly...

Purpose To explore the benefit of adaptive magnetic resonance-guided stereotactic body radiotherapy (MRgSBRT) for treatment lung tumors in different locations with a focus on ultracentral (ULT). Patients & Methods A prospective cohort 21 patients 23 primary and secondary was analyzed. Tumors were located peripherally (N = 10), centrally 2) ultracentrally 11, planning target volume (PTV) overlap proximal bronchi, esophagus and/or pulmonary artery). All received MRgSBRT gated dose...

Summary Background Bronchial asthma is characterized by chronic airway inflammation and remodelling which occurs in both proximal distal airways. These changes are associated with development of hyper‐responsiveness airflow limitation. Objective This study was aimed to analyse whether inhalative allergen challenges mice lead morphological physiological comparable this phenotype. Methods For purpose, BALB/c were systemically sensitized ovalbumin (OVA) followed aerosol on 2 consecutive days...

Abstract The anti-LPS antibody content of commercial intravenous immunoglobulins was examined by quantitative ELISA using LPS preparations from Escherichia coli, Klebsiella and Pseudomonas aeruginosa O serotypes occurring most frequently in Gram-negative septicaemia. Three IgG products different manufacturers one IgM-enriched product were tested. Mean levels significantly higher the IgM fraction compared with ‘pure’ products, indicating that natural antibodies against bacterial belong...

Abstract Neutropenia and agranulocytosis (N&A) are relatively rare, but potentially fatal adverse drug reactions (ADR). This study presents cases of N&A related to one or more antipsychotic drugs (APDs) in psychiatric inpatients. Data on APD utilization reports caused by APDs were analyzed using data from an observational pharmacovigilance program German-speaking countries—Arzneimittelsicherheit der Psychiatrie (AMSP)—from 1993 2016. 333,175 inpatients treated with for schizophrenia...

ABSTRACT A combined PCR assay was developed for the detection and typing of human polyomavirus (huPoV) in clinical samples, consisting (i) a qualitative seminested (snPCR) to discriminate between huPoV BK JC (ii) high-throughput, quantitative TaqMan (TM-PCR) general huPoV. The TM-PCR detects DNA linear range from 10 7 1 copies per assay. In reproducibility runs, inter- intra-assay variabilities were ≤60 ≤50%, respectively. snPCR uses set four primers same region viral genomes. first round...
