Measures of the proliferative activity tumor cells have prognostic value in patients with node-negative breast cancer. We studied 367 women southern Sweden who had undergone surgical resection for such Tumor specimens were analyzed DNA flow cytometry order to estimate both content (ploidy) and fraction synthetic phase cell cycle (S phase). The median duration follow-up was four years; 28 percent received adjuvant therapy, usually tamoxifen (n = 83).
The aim of this trial was to investigate whether a routine allowing normal food at will increases morbidity after major upper gastrointestinal (GI) surgery.Nil-by-mouth with enteral tube feeding is widely practiced for several days GI surgery. After other abdominal operations, has been shown be safe and improve gut function.Patients were randomly assigned nil-by-mouth by needle-catheter jejunostomy (ETF group) or from the first day Primary end point rate complications death. Secondary...
From January 1981 to February 1986, a total of 240 patients with primary, malignancy-grade III or IV soft tissue sarcoma were entered into an adjuvant chemotherapy multicenter trial conducted by the Scandinavian Sarcoma Group (SSG). Of these patients, 181 evaluable. The tumor was located in extremities 155 patients. After radical surgery (wide and compartmental) randomized treatment single-agent doxorubicin 60 mg/m2 administered as intravenous (IV) bolus once month for 9 months (group 1, n =...
The field of spinoptronics is underpinned by good control over photonic spin-orbit coupling in devices that have strong optical nonlinearities. Such might hold the key to a new era optoelectronics where momentum and polarization degrees freedom light are interwoven interfaced with electronics. However, manipulating photons through electrical means daunting task given their charge neutrality. In this work, we present electrically tunable microcavity exciton-polariton resonances...
The appearance of quantised vortices in the classical ``rotating bucket'' experiments liquid helium and ultracold dilute gases provides means for fundamental comparative studies different superfluids. Here, we realize experiment optically trapped quantum fluid light based on exciton-polariton Bose-Einstein condensate semiconductor microcavity. We utilise beating note two frequency-stabilized single-mode lasers to generate an asymmetric time-periodic rotating, non-resonant excitation profile...
We used an approach that we term ancestry-shift refinement mapping to investigate association, originally discovered in a GWAS of Chinese population, between rs2046210[T] and breast cancer susceptibility. The locus is on 6q25.1 proximity the C6orf97 estrogen receptor α (ESR1) genes. identified panel SNPs are correlated with rs2046210 Chinese, but not necessarily so other ancestral populations, genotyped them case∶control samples Asian, European, African origin, total 10,176 cases 13,286...
We demonstrate that multiply-coupled spinor polariton condensates can be optically tuned through a sequence of spin-ordered phases by changing the coupling strength between nearest neighbors. For closed 4-condensate chains these span from ferromagnetic (FM) to antiferromagnetic (AFM), separated an unexpected crossover phase. This phase is composed alternating FM-AFM bonds. larger 8 condensate chains, we show critical role spatial inhomogeneities and scheme overcome them prepare any desired...
Abstract Synthetic crystal lattices provide ideal environments for simulating and exploring the band structure of solid-state materials in clean controlled experimental settings. Physical realisations have, so far, dominantly focused on implementing irreversible patterning system, or interference techniques such as optical cold atoms. Here, we realise reprogrammable synthetic band-structure engineering an all exciton-polariton lattice. We demonstrate polariton condensation into excited...
We demonstrate deterministic control of the nearest and next-nearest neighbor coupling in unit cell a square lattice microcavity exciton-polariton condensates. tune continuous reversible manner by optically imprinting potential barriers variable height, form spatially localized incoherent exciton reservoirs that modify particle flow between By controlling couplings $2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2$ polariton cluster, we realize ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic, paired ferromagnetic...
Multicomponent Bose–Einstein condensates, quantum Hall systems, and chiral magnetic materials display twists knots in the continuous symmetries of their order parameters known as skyrmions. Originally discovered solutions to nonlinear sigma model field theory, these vectorial excitations are quantified by a topological winding number dictating interactions global properties host system. Here, we report experimental observation stable individual second-order meron antimeron appearing an...
Abstract The c‐ myc proto‐oncogene was analyzed in 311 cases of primary breast cancer, 8% which it found to be amplified, usually at moderately increased copy number (2‐5 copies). adjacent pvt gene co‐amplified with all tumors analyzed. C‐ amplification significantly correlated a high S‐phase fraction and the c‐erbB‐2 proto‐oncogene. Weak relationships were between c‐myc presence lymph‐node metastasis, advanced stage, DNA non‐diploidy premenopausal status, but not tumor size, estrogen...
We show that in a non-equilibrium system of an exciton-polariton condensate, where polaritons are generated from incoherent pumping, ring-shaped pump allows for stationary vortex memory elements topological charge $m = 1$ or -1$. Using simple potential guides we can choose whether to copy the same invert it onto another spatially separate ring pump. Such manipulation binary information opens possibility new type processing using vortices as topologically protected components.
Artificial lattices of coherently coupled macroscopic states are at the heart applications ranging from solving hard combinatorial optimisation problems to simulating complex many-body physical systems. The size and complexity scales with extent coherence across lattice. Although fundamental limit spatial depends on nature couplings lattice parameters, it is usually engineering constrains that define system. Here, we engineer polariton condensate active control arrangement density result in...
