It was shown that the method for obtaining hydrolates from lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) influences content of active compounds and aromatic, antimicrobial antioxidant properties hydrolates. The volatile organic ranged 9.12 to 97.23 mg/100 mL hydrolate. Lavender hydrolate variants showed low activity (from 0% 0.05%). radical scavenging DPPH 3.6 ± 0.5% 3.8 0.6% oxygen absorbance capacity (ORAC(FL)) results were 0 266 μM Trolox equivalent, depending on variant.
The cosmetics industry is currently looking for innovative ingredients with higher bioactivity and bioavailability the masses of natural organic cosmetics. Bioferments are extracted from raw materials by carrying out a fermentation process appropriate strains microorganisms. review was conducted using SciFinder database keywords fermented plant, cosmetics, fermentation. Mainly bioferments made plant-based materials. covers wide range waste (whey beet pulp) to plant oils (F-Shiunko,...
Abstract The chemical composition of essential oils and hydrolate from dried lavender flowers (Lavandula angustifolia) was determined. Organic compounds were isolated the by liquid–liquid (LLE) method. Optimal conditions for LLE (pentane, five extraction cycles, 40 mL, salting out [5% NaCl]) determined Taguchi As many as forty-seven identified both in oil (Oe) during preparation (OeH), representing 94.9% content Oe 95.7% OeH. main OeH are: linalool (24.6% 24.9%, respectively), linalyl...
The antioxidant and antimicrobial activities as well chemical composition of essential oils from fresh dried flowers aerial parts lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) were compared. Their main volatile components linalool (26.5-34.7 %), linalyl acetate (19.7-23.4 β-ocimene (2.9-10.7 α-terpineol (2.8-5.1 %). showed high activity against bacteria (B. subtilis, S. aureus, E. coli, P. aeruginosa), yeast filamentous fungi (Candida sp., A. niger, expansum), inhibiting their growth at concentrations...
Olive oil application in the cosmetic industry may be extended by its ozonation, bringing about new properties and increased stability. treated with 0.04 mole O3 or 0.10 per 100 g was subjected to chemical parameters evaluation composition scrutinizing gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) GC-MS analysis. The biological activity of refined ozonated included their antimicrobial agar diffusion method cytotoxicity MTT assay towards two...
The purpose of the study was to select an environmentally friendly plant biopesticide protect seed potatoes against phytopathogens. scope included evaluation antimicrobial activities 22 water extracts, water-glycol and 3 subcritical carbon dioxide extracts using agar diffusion method 10 potato For most effective minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC), chemical composition analysis by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry in situ assays on were performed. Garlic extract finally selected as...
Abstract The composition of the essential oil obtained from dried flowers Lavandula angustifolia, cultivated in Poland was analyzed by GC, GC-MS and NIR. Seventy-eight compounds have been identified oil. major constituents were linalool (30.6 %), linalyl acetate (14.2 geraniol (5.3 β-caryophyllene (4.7 lavandulyl (4.4 %).
The study was undertaken to verify the antimicrobial activity of Lavandula angustifolia hydrosols in moisturizing body gels. inhibition efficacy four lavender (obtained from fresh or dry herbs flowers) tested against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Escherichia coli 1627, Candida sp. ŁOCK 0008 and Aspergillus niger 16404 compliance with standards European Pharmacopoeia Commission. Although did not express any remarkable action when via macrodilution method, they show preservative cosmetic...
The aim of the research was to increase efficiency hydrodistillation process and determine volatile composition, biological activity, aroma profile essential oil from celery seeds (
Abstract Qualitative and quantitative differences in essential oil hydrodistilled from fresh dried flowers of lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) harvested Poland were investigated by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) near infrared (NIRS). Drying prior to hydrodistillation resulted large losses (over 40 %). Sixty-five compounds identified the isolated material 73 that material. The main ingredients oxygenated monoterpenes 70 Essential was shown have smaller quantities monoterpene...
The development of the parameters ozone decontamination method assuring least possible losses biologically active substances (essential oils and polyphenols) their activity in common juniper (Juniperus communis (L.)) berries was studied. Ozone treatment dynamic bed conducted 9 times. process under different concentrations (100.0; 130.0; 160.0 g O3/m3) times (30, 60, 90 min). After each decontamination, microbiological profile studied, contaminating microflora identified. Next to profile,...
:The effect of ultrasound-assisted maceration on the bioactivity, quality and yield essential oil from waste carrot seeds (Daucus carota) was investigated. The Taguchi method applied to determine levels input factors ensuring greatest efficiency hydrodistillation [sonication time 20.0 min; impulse 50.0 s; pause 5.0 sonication temperature 20.0°C]. Under these conditions, increased by approx. 33 %. main constituent compounds are: carotol (OeA: 34.84 % – OeB: 35.71%), sabinene 10.16% 9.84%),...
The paper presents the development of a model for ozone treatment in dynamic bed different microorganisms (
The aim of this study was to determine the chemical profile monoterpenes (including identification stereoisomers) contained in celery seed essential oil derived from waste seeds (Apium graveolens L.), which did not meet commercial quality criteria as a sowing material, and evaluate biological activity sensory oil. main constituent (R)-(+)-limonene (75.06%). antimicrobial assessed using impedimetric method find its minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) against bacteria (Bacillus subtilis...
Abstract The overall objective of this study was to develop a decontamination method against microorganisms in cardamom ( Elettaria cardamomum (L.) Maton) seeds using ozone as decontaminating agent. Ozone treatment conducted 3 times, at 24‐h intervals, and the parameters process were determined assuring least possible losses biologically active substances (essential oils polyphenols): concentration 160 165.0 g/m ; flow rate 0.1 L/min; pressure 0.5 atm; time 30 min. After each step...
In the last decade, fresh-cut plants have become a more popular flavoring additive in food. It is important to find an effective method for ensuring safety and quality of plant materials used as food additives. Ozonated water being considered by EFSA approval cidal agent protection.
