High-resolution manometry (HRM) is the preferred method for evaluation of motility disorders. Recently, an update diagnostic criteria (Chicago 3.0) has been published. The aim this study was to compare performance Chicago version 2.0 (CC2.0) vs. 3.0 (CC3.0) in a cohort healthy volunteers and symptomatic patients.HRM studies asymptomatic individuals from several centers Spain Latin America were analyzed using both CC2.0 CC3.0. final diagnosis grouped into hierarchical categories: obstruction...

In a previous study, we demonstrated that women enjoyed and tolerated lower meal loads than men. Hence, hypothesized with the same load, their postprandial response is more pronounced in We performed randomized parallel trial 12 men comparing responses to palatable comfort meal. measured homeostatic sensations (hunger/satiety, fullness) hedonic (digestive well-being, mood) on 10 cm scales, vagal tone by heart ratio variability metabolomic profile before after ingestion. Gender differences...

Various conditioning factors influence the sensory response to a meal (inducible factors). We hypothesized that inherent characteristics of eater (constitutive factors) also play role. The aim this proof-of-concept study was determine role gender, as an individual constitutive factor, on meal-related experience. Randomized parallel trial in 10 women and men, comparing sensations before, during, after stepwise ingestion comfort up full satiation. Comparisons were performed by repeated...

Abstract Background Previous studies have not been able to correlate manometry findings with bolus perception. The aim of this study was evaluate correlation different variables, including traditional manometric variables (at diagnostic and extreme thresholds), esophageal shortening, transit, automated impedance ( AIM ) metrics mood passage perception in a large cohort asymptomatic individuals. Methods High resolution HRM performed healthy individuals from nine centers. Perception evaluated...

Background & AimsPatients with functional dyspepsia are believed to have increased sensitivity of the gastrointestinal tract, and some also constipation. We investigated whether in patients dyspepsia, correction dyssynergic defecation can reduce postprandial fullness.MethodsWe performed a parallel trial at 2 referral centers Spain, from June 2016 through January 2018 50 who fulfilled Rome IV criteria for distress syndrome constipation defecation. Abstract Esophageal achalasia is the most frequent primary motor disorder of esophagus, resulting in a peristalsis and failed relaxation lower esophageal sphincter (LES). Various treatments have been described. Endoscopic alternatives include botulinum toxin injection pneumatic balloon dilation, but both tend to fail with time usually repeated interventions are required. Laparoscopic Heller myotomy (LHM) has considered gold standard. The diagnosis during pregnancy extremely rare optimal...

Ingestion of a meal induces conscious sensations depending the characteristics and predisposition eater. We hypothesized that eating schedule plays conditioning role, specifically, an extemporaneous is less rewarding than when eaten at habitual schedule. conducted randomized parallel trial in 10 women men comparing responses to consistent savoury lunch-type (stewed beans) afternoon or unconventional time morning. Schedule gender differences were analyzed by repeated measures analysis...

Abstract Introduction Minute rhythm and prolonged simultaneous contractions are patterns of postprandial small bowel contractile activity that historically have been considered as suggestive mechanical intestinal obstruction; however, these also encountered in patients with motility‐like symptoms the absence obstruction.
