Ground-based gamma-ray astronomy has had a major breakthrough with the impressive results obtained using systems of imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes. huge potential in astrophysics, particle physics and cosmology. CTA is an international initiative to build next generation instrument, factor 5-10 improvement sensitivity 100 GeV 10 TeV range extension energies well below above TeV. will consist two arrays (one north, one south) for full sky coverage be operated as open observatory....
The Cherenkov Telescope Array, CTA, will be the major global observatory for very high energy gamma-ray astronomy over next decade and beyond. scientific potential of CTA is extremely broad: from understanding role relativistic cosmic particles to search dark matter. an explorer extreme universe, probing environments immediate neighbourhood black holes voids on largest scales. Covering a huge range in photon 20 GeV 300 TeV, improve all aspects performance with respect current instruments....
We compare the topological properties of minimal spanning tree obtained from a large group stocks traded at New York Stock Exchange during 12-year trading period with one surrogated data simulated by using simple market models. find that empirical has features complex network cannot be reproduced, even as first approximation, random model and widespread one-factor model.
The high-frequency cross-correlation existing between pairs of stocks traded in a financial market are investigated set 100 US equity markets. A hierarchical organization the is obtained by determining metric distance and investigating properties subdominant ultrametric associated with it. clear modification detected when time horizon used to determine stock returns changed. location energy sector as function horizon.
The ASTRI (Astrofisica con Specchi a Tecnologia Replicante Italiana) Project led by the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) is developing and will deploy at Observatorio del Teide mini-array (ASTRI Mini-Array) composed of nine telescopes similar to small-size dual-mirror Schwarzschild-Couder telescope (ASTRI-Horn) currently operating on slopes Mt. Etna in Sicily. Mini-Array surpass current Cherenkov array differential sensitivity above few tera-electronvolt (TeV), extending...
The ASTRI Mini-Array (MA) is an INAF project to build and operate a facility study astronomical sources emitting at very high-energy in the TeV spectral band. MA consists of group nine innovative Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes. telescopes will be installed Teide Astronomical Observatory Instituto de Astrofisica Canarias (IAC) Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain) on basis host agreement with INAF. Thanks its expected overall performance, better than those current telescopes' arrays for...
We investigate sets of financial nonredundant and nonsynchronously recorded time series. The are composed by a number stock market indices located all over the world in five continents. By properly selecting horizon returns using reference currency we find meaningful taxonomy. detection such taxonomy proves that interpretable information can be stored set
We present an analysis of high-dispersion spectra (R ∼ 40,000) three red clump stars in the old open cluster NGC 6819. The were obtained with SARG, spectrograph Telescopio Nazionale Galileo. analyzed using both equivalent widths measured automatic procedure and comparisons synthetic spectra. 6819 is found to be slightly metal-rich ([Fe/H] = +0.09 ± 0.03, internal error); there are no previous high-resolution studies compare. Most element-to-element abundance ratios close solar; we find a...
We present iron abundance analysis for 23 wide binaries with main sequence components in the temperture range 4900–6300 K, taken from sample of pairs currently included radial velocity planet search on going at Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG) using high resolution spectrograph SARG. The use a line-by-line differential technique between each pair allows us to reach errors about 0.02 dex content difference. Most have differences lower than and there are no larger 0.07 dex. four cases may be...
We study the mean escape time in a market model with stochastic volatility. The process followed by volatility is Cox, Ingersoll, and Ross which widely used to stock price fluctuations. can be considered as generalization of Heston model, where geometric Brownian motion replaced random walk presence cubic nonlinearity. investigate statistical properties returns, from given interval, function three parameters model. find that noise have stabilizing effect on system, long global not too high...

The present work aims to address a comprehensive analytical analysis of new accurate equivalent electrical model silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) detectors. proposed circuit allows truthfully reproduce the output signal waveform generated by light sensors apart from specific technology adopted for fabrication process, and can also be profitably exploited perform reliable circuit-level simulations. A detailed in-depth investigation functional parameters involved in pulse signals is here...
We report on the first detection of very high-energy (VHE) gamma-ray emission from Crab Nebula by a Cherenkov telescope in dual-mirror Schwarzschild-Couder (SC) configuration. The result has been achieved means 4 m size ASTRI-Horn telescope, operated Mt. Etna (Italy) and developed context Telescope Array Observatory preparatory phase. SC design is aplanatic characterized small plate scale, allowing us to implement large field view cameras with small-size pixel sensors high compactness....
Abstract At Mount Etna volcano, the focus point of persistent tectonic extension is represented by Summit Craters. A muographic telescope has been installed at base North-East Crater from August 2017 to October 2019, with specific aim find time related variations in density volcanic edifice. The results are significant, since elaborated images show opening and evolution different elements; 2017, a cavity was detected months before collapse crater floor 2018 set underground fractures...
Design and fabrication of single photon avalanche detector (SPAD) in planar technology is reported. Device design critical issues the are discussed. Experimental test procedures described for dark-counting rate, afterpulsing probability, timing resolution, quantum detection efficiency. Low-noise detectors obtained, with dark counting rates down to 10 c/s devices /spl mu/m diameter, 1 kc/s 50 diameter. The suitable monolithic integration SPAD associated circuits.
In this letter, high responsivity 4H-SiC vertical Schottky UV photodiodes based on the pinch-off surface effect, obtained by means of self-aligned Ni2Si interdigit contacts, are demonstrated. The diode area was 1mm2, with a 37% directly exposed to radiation. dark current about 200pA at −50V. Under 256nm illumination, increase more than two orders magnitude is observed, resulting in 78% internal quantum efficiency. showed an ultraviolet-visible rejection ratio >7×103 and factor 1.8...
