Ground-based gamma-ray astronomy has had a major breakthrough with the impressive results obtained using systems of imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes. huge potential in astrophysics, particle physics and cosmology. CTA is an international initiative to build next generation instrument, factor 5-10 improvement sensitivity 100 GeV 10 TeV range extension energies well below above TeV. will consist two arrays (one north, one south) for full sky coverage be operated as open observatory....

We describe the Dark Energy Survey (DES) Deep Fields, a set of images and associated multi-wavelength catalogue ($ugrizJHKs$) built from Camera (DECam) Visible Infrared Telescope for Astronomy (VISTA) data. The DES Fields comprise 11 fields (10 supernova plus COSMOS), with total area $\sim30~$ square degrees in $ugriz$ bands reaching maximum $i$-band depth 26.75 (AB, $10\sigma$, 2 arcsec). present 3-year cosmology analysis those four full 8-band coverage, totalling $5.88~$ sq. deg. after...

The standard for Clostridium difficile surface decontamination is bleach solution at a concentration of 10 % sodium hypochlorite. Pulsed xenon UV light (PX-UV) means quickly producing germicidal that has been shown to be effective in reducing environmental contamination by C. spores. purpose this study was investigate whether PX-UV equivalent surfaces infection isolation rooms. High-touch rooms previously occupied infected patients were sampled after discharge but before and cleaning using...

Nuclear pasta is an exotic form of nuclear matter that occurs in the crust neutron stars below saturation density. Various structures with cylindrical, planar, and more complicated geometries evolve from Coulomb lattice nuclei immersed a fluid neutrons. Such should not only affect how star cools rotates but also height ``mountains'' can sustain---potentially detectable as persistent sources gravitational waves. By performing large set quantum calculations authors show energy landscape...

We present deep $g$- and $r$-band Magellan/Megacam photometry of two dwarf galaxy candidates discovered in the Dark Energy Survey (DES), Grus I Indus II (DES J2038-4609). For case I, we resolved main sequence turn-off (MSTO) $\sim 2$ mags below it. The MSTO can be seen at $g_0\sim 24$ with a photometric uncertainty $0.03$ mag. show to consistent an old, metal-poor ($\sim 13.3$ Gyr, [Fe/H]$\sim-1.9$) galaxy. derive updated distance structural parameters for using this deep, uniform,...

Abstract To make best use of multifaceted astronomical and nuclear data sets, probability distributions neutron star models that can be used to propagate errors consistently from one domain another are required. We take steps toward a consistent model for this purpose, highlight where inconsistencies occur, assess the resulting uncertainty. Using two symmetry energy parameters—one uniform, other based on pure matter theory—we prepare ensembles inner crust models. an extended Skyrme density...

Abstract Many studies have shown that RR Lyrae variable stars (RRL) are powerful stellar tracers of Galactic halo structure and satellite galaxies. The Dark Energy Survey (DES), with its deep wide coverage ( g ∼ 23.5 mag in a single exposure; over 5000 deg 2 ) provides rich opportunity to search for substructures out the edge Milky Way halo. However, sparse unevenly sampled multiband light curves from DES wide-field survey (a median four observations each grizY first three years) pose...
