Jugular foramen tumors are rare cranial base lesions that present diagnostic and management difficulties. With the availability of new procedures these have been more precisely studied questions whether, when, how should be treated often arise. Data from 106 consecutive patients surgically in past 17 years were retrospectively analyzed to identify surgical outcomes. The approached by a multidisciplinary team composed neurosurgeons, ear, nose, throat surgeons, neuroradiologists. Hypervascular...
✓ A case of cavernous angioma in the right temporoparieto-occipital area is reported. The unusually large calcification and cystic formation presented problems preoperative diagnosis. tumor was treated successfully by subtotal excision.
Personalized care models are dominating modern medicine. These rooted in teaching future physicians the skill set to keep up with innovation. In orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery, education is increasingly influenced by augmented reality, simulation, navigation, robotics, some cases, artificial intelligence. The postpandemic learning environment has also changed, emphasizing online skill- competency-based incorporating clinical bench-top research. Attempts improve work–life balance...
The authors provide a detailed review of the surgical management trigeminal schwannomas (TSs) and also discuss best approach based on anatomy tumor extension.A series 17 patients with TSs who were surgically treated between 1987 2008 at authors' institution is reported. lesions small (< 3 cm) in 2, medium (between 4 5, large (> 6, giant 5 cases. Preoperative symptoms included hypesthesia (53%), facial pain headaches (35.3%), hearing impairment (17.6%), seizures diplopia (11.8%), ataxia...
To fabricate a three-dimensional biomodels of intracranial aneurysms, using rapid prototyping technology, to facilitate optimal anatomical visualization aneurysms prior and during surgery.Four cases were selected for this study. Using CT angiography images, the process was completed PolyJet technology machine. The size morphology prototypes compared brain digital subtraction arteriography same patients. The reproduced exact location particularly necks, in life-size dimensions exactly as...
Abstract Background Different methods of cranioplasty for the reconstruction bony skull defects exist. In absence autologous bone flap, a customised manufactured implant may be optimal choice, but this has several limitations regarding its technical standardisation and better cost-effectiveness. Methods This study presents series 16 consecutive patients who had undergone with three-dimensional (3D) template moulds polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) implants after 3D modelling on specific...
Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), described by Hakim and Adams in 1965, is characterized gait apraxia, urinary incontinence, dementia. It associated with normal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) ventricular dilation that cannot be attributed to cerebral atrophy. To evaluate characteristics patients idiopathic NPH investigate the effect of CSF tap test (CSF-TT) on gait.Twenty-five diagnosed probable were submitted CSF-TT. The procedure aimed achieve changes parameters.Fifteen parameters assessed...
We report our experience with a supraorbital eyebrow minicraniotomy. This technique is suitable to lesions situated in the region of anterior fossa, suprasellar cisterns, parasellar and Sylvian fissure. A 50 mm incision minicraniotomy performed. Sixteem patients harboring different were operated on good postoperative cosmetic results. conclude that this approach safe useful selected cases.
