A new genus of Arundinarieae, Khoonmengia, is established to accommodate a unique bamboo species, K. honbaensis, from central-southern Vietnam. The morphological features, habitats and distribution Khoonmengia related genera, i.e. Ampelocalamus Hsuehochloa, are compared. characters its scrambling habit, internodes with brownish green dots, conspicuous nodes swollen at one side, elliptic buds wholly sunken into culm, extravaginal branching pattern, mid-culm branch complement central dominant...
Sixteen compounds (1-16) were isolated from Impatiens chapaensis. Chemical structures determined by spectroscopic analyses and comparisons with previously published data. This report is the first to identify 1, 5-7, 10, 12-14, 16 genus Impatiens. Seven chosen isolates (5, 7, 11, 12, 15, 16) submitted for α-glucosidase inhibition assays acarbose as positive control (IC50 = 227.14 ± 13.71 µM). Flavonoid 5 exhibited a significant inhibitory effect 101.00 9.01
The synthesis and cytotoxicity evaluation of fourteen new chalcones containing 5-fluorouracil were introduced in which nine as Mannich bases 8a-i synthesized from 2'-hydroxyacetophenone (1) three steps including chloromethylation, N-alkylation Claisen-Schmidt reactions. Other 14a-e obtained Click reaction between 1,3-dipropargyl-5-fluorouracil azide derivatives 2',4'-dihydroxychalcone. bio-assay results showed that 11 (excluding 8d, 8f 8h) exhibited against four human cancer cell lines...
Neomicrocalamus and Temochloa are closely related to bamboo genera. However, when considered with newly discovered morphologically similar material from China Vietnam, the phylogenetic relationship among these three groups was ambiguous in analyses based on DNA regions. Here, as a means of investigating relationships exploring potential sources genomic conflicts, we present phylogenomic examination whole plastome, single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), single-copy nuclear (SCN) gene datasets....
One rare, poorly known species from India, South China and Thailand - Jasminum extensum Wall. ex G. Don is recently discovered in Vietnam representing a new record to the flora of country. The plant differs its closely related viz. pierreanum having coriaceous leaves 5-6 primary veins each side mid-rib. Detailed information on taxonomy, types, morphology, habitat, ecology, distribution studied voucher specimens, as well illustrations are provided here for identification.
Schizostachyum langbianense is a new woody bamboo from high mountain, Lang Bian, in southern Vietnam, which being described and illustrated. It similar to S. ninhthuanense having short ultimate inflorescence branchlets on clusters of few pseudospikelets are borne. However, it differs its culm leaves with horizontal or only slightly concave apical portion, leaf blades that narrowly lanceolate, palea not apically bifid dorsally sulcate 2 keels. Both species occur the same mountain region, but...
A new species, Stephania polygona N.H. Xia & V.T. Chinh, is described and illustrated from southern Vietnam. It similar to S. subpeltata elegans in general appearance, but differs by its polygonous lobed leaf blade, five eight veins, longer, red purple sepals.
