Heart transplantation from donation after circulatory death (DCD) donors has the potential to substantially increase overall heart transplant activity. The aim of this report is review first 8 y our clinical program at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, describe how evolved and impact that changes retrieval protocols have had on posttransplant outcomes. Since 2014, we performed 74 DCD transplants utilizing a direct procurement protocol followed by normothermic machine perfusion. Changes resulted...

This study was performed to analyse the impacts of functional mitral stenosis (MS) following valve (MV) repair on late cardiac function and new onset atrial fibrillation or survival. We retrospectively reviewed 602 patients with regurgitation who underwent MV for Type II dysfunction from 2001. Functional MS diagnosed when mean transmitral pressure gradient (MTPG) ≥5 mmHg postoperative echocardiography. We analysed preoperative surgical risk factors (MS group). then compared long-term outcomes...

Background:This study evaluated the mid to long-term durability and hemodynamics of small-size Mosaic bioprosthesis, a third-generation stented porcine for aortic valve replacement (AVR).Methods Results:From 2000 2012, 207 patients (117 women; age, 74±8 years; body surface area, 1.48±0.25 m2) underwent AVR with bioprosthesis. The mean follow-up period was 3.5±2.7 years (maximum, 12.4 years) rate 93.7%. A 19-, 21-, 23-, 25-, 27-mm prosthesis used in 103, 53, 35, 13, 3 patients, respectively....

The presence of cerebral haemorrhage (CH) preoperatively is a risk factor in-hospital cerebrovascular complications post-valve surgery for acute infective endocarditis. However, factors related to in the long term are poorly understood. We reviewed series these patients investigate and long-term outcomes. An institutional 148 who underwent valve active endocarditis between 2000 2016 were enrolled. Patients divided into 2 groups based on preoperative CH:CH group (n = 25) non-CH 123). Of them,...

This study aimed to compare the hemodynamic performance and clinical results of EVAHEART HeartMate II left ventricular assist devices (LVADs). From 2007 2016, fourteen patients received 28 at our center. Early survival, driveline infection, neurologic events were evaluated. Hemodynamic was evaluated with transthoracic echocardiography right heart catheterization. Mean follow-up 35.5 ± 14.8 months for 29.8 6.5 II. Survival rates comparable between two groups. Despite the cosmetic benefits of minimally invasive approach for mitral disease, clinical benefit and risk are not fully known. We investigated valve (MV) repair type II dysfunction using propensity score-matched analysis. Methods Results: Since 2001, 602 patients have undergone MV (464 with conventional median sternotomy 138 approach). Coronary artery disease (CAD) after heart transplantation (HTx) develops as a combination of donor-transmitted coronary atherosclerosis (DTCA) and cardiac allograft vasculopathy. Assessing donor CAD before procurement is important. Because calcification (CAC) predictor for CAD, donor-heart CAC usually evaluated to estimate the risk CAD. The usefulness predicting DTCA, however, not known. Methods Results: Sixty-four HTx recipients whose underwent chest computed tomography or ≤2 weeks who...
